SWA - BUFF to MCO $69 for Travel July 1 - October 27!

Yep, just got the credit. I have had 4 reductions since I booked my flight in April, a savings of over $400. Had them all put back on my credit card, gotta love Southwest!

how do you get credits??? Im about to jump on this also. Is it a good deal??

Thanks, $60 credit for us but very frustrating.

A note to those booking on SWA, to avoid hassle, book each person separately and each leg of the trip separately.

We have six of us on one booking and there were only 5 return flights left at lower price. I rebooked our flight on the way down for $10 less for all of us and then tried to rebook five for the way back...No can do!!! You need to change all six. Well, there are five seats left at lower price and the sixth right now shows at about $80 higher than what we have paid...so we lose money by trying to change the return flight and the SWA travel centre is no help and the customer service line is long distance...

Oh well, we will see what we can do with a short call to customer service.

Go to their main reservations site, top right hand corner it the "travel centre" clic that. Then there will be a list of different things that you can do. Clic Change Reservation. You must have your ressie # and name of person whose cc you used. Then you rebook it. It will issue you a credit to be used at a later date.

And if you want the money credited back to your card, call the customer service line in Dallas, its on their site, and if its a change for the same flight, they will refund your money . Happy flying

If you bought non-refundables like I did, you can't get your money back on your cc.

If you booked/paid for a seat for them and the car seats are FAA approved then you can put them in their car seats. Otherwise, they need to be checked with luggage.

One other consideration before asking for a refund. If you are certain that you will be flying before your credit would expire AND you can afford to leave the money with SWA, consider that your credit card company is going to charge you coming and going on the money that is being refunded (about 2.5% each way) and also consider that you are locking in your future exchange rate at 90.5 cents per dollar.

It may make more sense to just get a credit rather than take a refund to your CC.

Unfortunately, you have one year from the time you book, which for us is April 27th, we always travel in August. so getting the refund even with the exchange rate difference is a better option for us. So, far we have put over $400 back to our credit card. And btw my tickets were non refundable also

Thank you, Janet for the detailed description. I have saved $40 for the flight. I fly in August, and the CSRep suggested I let someone else have it....Hmmmm. now....getting, once I get the confirmation, I will pass that on to.....

For kicks I did try to get a refund. No go. The first customer service rep suggested that I give the credit to someone else, and the second said, "This is an internet, non-refundable flight." (I knew that :dance3: ) I can call next year and try to have the credit extended but there would be no refund. That's what I would expect. I'm happy to have a credit. (I lost 2 WestJet credits once upon a time, but it made me happy to see them posted on the bulletin board! Small things. :rotfl: )

Debbie were you trying to get a refund for the exact same flight that you rebooked at a cheaper rate? What number did you call?

Long story, and a bit  I rebooked the cheaper rate....but clicked on a different flight by mistake, and there is no double check before you click. :confused3 (Probably a bit nervous, and thinking that I had to do it quickly, too). Then, I changed it again....back to the original flight times, getting the $40 credit. :sunny: I called the 1-800-IFLYSWA first, and they gave me the "refund" number 1-214-792-4223. I suppose that the "goof" (my mistake, not ME :rotfl2: ) may have been the reason....who knows??

Now that the flights are set, I just need 1 extra day of free dining to open up. It's that, or the gang will be on bread and water for the first day of vacation! :lmao:

Thanks Debbie, I've heard so many different stories about getting a refund. I also have the "refund" number and have been holding off calling but I have a credit, from rebooking the same flight at a cheaper fare, that has to be used by late November, that I've got to find out about. I don't think we will have any plans until after that.

I have sold my soon to expire credits both privately and on ebay. Usually get about 90 to 95 cents on the dollar.

Probably get a taker on these boards if you wanted.

We just booked our return for Oct 4 but the day we leave Sept 30 the 7am non stop wasn't listed at the lower price $69. So we'll wait. DH also didn't realize we still had $40 in credits left from last Dec which was a pleasant suprise.
