SW when changing flights...?

I can save almost $250.00 for 4 tickets on SW . My questions are

1) I am not really sure how to cancel current flight and then book new flight to save $$;

2) When canceling my current flight and saving $$, is that $$ refunded or is it applied to a future flight in voucher form?

Sorry about this, I am sure this has been answered already, but we usually drive and I am not sure how this works.

I just called and they told me to go into my email reservation and modify it and pick the new flights and then you will het a SWA credit

On the Southwest site, click on Travel Center, then Change Air Reservation. You'll be able to change flights there. As for the credit, it depends on your initial reservation as to whether they'll credit your card or give you a credit to your SW account.
