Well, I just did something stupid. After watching airfare shoot up and getting nervous, I went ahead and purchased our airfare for 3 people at $264 pp round trip from BDL (Hartford) to MCO. The highest I've ever paid!
I figured that if a DING ever were released for our mid July dates, I'd switch over and try to take a credit for the remaining balance. There are no DINGs for that time period yet, and I doubt there will be since we have to fly Friday to Saturday. I noticed some lower airfares coming through expedia, etc, so I went back to check our dates at SW and found a lower rate of $104 each way! I know I could go ahead and change them and take the credit for the $60 difference pp, but we were starting to get really excited about the great flight times I'd secured at the $264 rate. Our flight in is early enough to have dinner and a good night's rest before our first day at the parks, and our return flight is late so that we can have an extra half day at the parks. Now I'm wishing I didn't know because after missing out on AP rates for our dates at our resorts, it's hard to pass up a $160 savings. Or do I hold out for a potential DING for at least one leg of the journey!
Anyway...anyone interested, go to southwest.com and check out the fares. Rules are: Purchase through May 18, 2006, midnight Pacific Time.
Travel July 1 through September 12, 2006.
