We are bringing an adult SW fan next month. I dont pay attention to meet and greets or themed treats etc. since I'm not a fan. Besides the fireworks and the storm trooper march is there anything else we should be aware of?

Current SW offerings include Star Tours, Jedi training (only kids can participate), and Star Wars Launch Bay, which has 3 M&Gs and some displays. There are also one or two short films about SW.

The dessert party might be good value for you. There's plenty of non dessert items to make it a filling dinner (pita, hummus, and italian deli meats - I GOT FULL - it was pretty good)
Pretty much as many photos with storm troopers as you'd like. They roam the room, and make wisecracks. They are hilarious.
M&G with kylo is included, however, Chewie and BB8 will probably have very low wait times when you are there.
Booze is included.
Primo fireworks viewing area.
Souvenir mug or something similar
It's SUPER chill. Call it an appetizer / dessert / cocktail party, and I bet attendance would triple immediately. I think Walt is missing a marketing strategy by calling these "Dessert" parties.

There's also a day SW tour at HS. I looked into it. Too time consuming for our group. It starts in the am, and we're too busy crushing the a-list attractions to give up that time for a tour.

I'm not sure about that but they do point out the non dessert items and adult drinks on the party's MDE page. They're also maxed out as far as available space is concerned, no pun intended. In fact they reduced the size of the party when they added seating not that long ago.

Point taken. I wrote that because I've heard and read so many times, "I'm not paying 60 dollars for dessert things I probably won't even eat." It's a whole lot more than just desserts. HEA dessert party, as well had a decent selection of savory items, but none of the extra perks as SW (haven't done the one at EP - no real interest.) Plenty of ppl don't dive into the details after looking at the price tag, but if you say they are selling out, then Walt hasn't missed anything. Correction taken.

We did the Meet and Greet in September and it was a blast ( and virtually no waiting ). We got pics with Chewy, BB8 and Kylo-Ren. All very interactive but the best was with Kylo-Ren. There were also several small exhibits ( history of blasters, clothing, props, etc )

I think not being able to eat or drink $79 worth is probably correct for most people, even with the savory items. But a majority of the cost of putting on the parties has little to do with the food or drinks. There's a ton of labor required to plan, pre-party prep, equipment and food transportation, setup, servers, other event staff, break down and clean up afterwards.

That's true but it's MK and there's a premium for that.

I'm not saying that the SW party sells out, I was referring to the space being maxed out. That party has been around for a while so except during peak times it doesn't sell out.

And that's the only M&G that's included with the party. Party Guests are on their own for the other characters.

even though I've been watching the first 2 star wars movies recently I still read this as small world

Yes, completely, and that is a great point. But, the avg guest (assumption, on my part) is not really thinking about the behind the scenes costs that go into it. They are just thinking bout paying x for a bunch of sweets (even though the details say there's more than that) and a spot to watch. IMO, the SW party is almost a bargain (in WDW terms, of course) considering what's included. We essentially made it dinner, drinks, a no wait M&G for Kylo, no wait M&G with Storm Troopers, and a non-obstructed view without staking out a spot (two short ppl in the fam) and also, the all important trinket mug :jester:

The M&G for Chewie and BB8 was only a few ppl in line throughout the party, so even though they are technically not included I think most ppl are jockeying for position for the fireworks show, so you can assume lower waits as well. Admittedly, for that price, I wasn't really even considering those costs you mentioned, which makes it even more of a bargain (just my opinion) in looking at the other side of things.

While at the FEA, SW and JBJB check in podiums, many people came up to ask the price or what it was. After informing them, and as they walked away, I would often hear, that's ridiculous, greedy, money grabbers and my favorite "they're taking away space I paid for". So although I appreciate your opinion, a lot of people don't agree. But the dessert parties are not intended for everyone. Of the total number of people at the parks, it's a very small percentage.
