SW Michigan to HHI...I65???

We drove to HHI in 2011 and we're going again next spring for Easter. I have casually looked at the threads about the bridge construction in Kentucky (I65, is it?) and I think that is the route that we take. Is that mess cleared up? If not, when is it expected to be done?

Our plan is to drive to Gatlinburg, TN on Friday (leaving Grand Rapids area around 7:30am) and then on to HHI on Saturday. We don't have any plans to visit Gatlinburg on Friday night. We would like to drive through Cades Cove on Saturday morning before starting out for HHI, though, so we want to try and get to bed at a reasonable time.

Thoughts? Concerns? Anything I need to adjust in our plans?

Thanks!

Not sure what route you would take from SW Michigan to Gatlinburg that takes I65 through Louisville, unless you are taking it to I64.

Once in Indy, take I74 into Cincy to I75, then hit I40 in Knoxville.

The bridge construction in Louisville is nearly complete. There is no current construction anywhere on I75 in KY now, and I75 in TN reopened from the rockslide yesterday.

There are several of us in the area that can help, but I'm unclear as to what route you want to take.

I'm not even sure:lmao:...I know that we've gone through Louisville when we drove to Florida so I'm probably getting the trips confused. I thought we went through Loiusville en route to Gatlinburg, but I couldn't tell you the exact route that we took.

I'm with KyDisneyFans. I wouldn't go through Louisville to get to Gatlinburg.

Maybe you went through Lexington.

I'd take the route she suggested, except once you get to the western Cincinnati suburbs, I'd take I-275 south into Kentucky, and pick up I-75 there. You'll bypass Downtown Cincinnati.

I75 in TN reopened from the rockslide yesterday.

It did? Great. We're visiting the in-laws in a couple of weeks. Although we usually take 25E during the day, we'll be travelling at night this time, and we don't like the 25E route at night. (It's not 25E, it's the last five miles off 25E. Hilly, winding, dangerous at night. We don't have that going 75.)
