Flown numerous times but always non-stop. Have a few questions about Southwest flights connecting in Baltimore before arriving in Orlando...

1) If I check-in online 24hrs ahead of the Buffalo departure does it automatically check me in for the Baltimore connecting flight or do I have to check-in online a second time 24hrs ahead of the connecting flight in Baltimore?

2) What is the procedure once I arrive in Baltimore? Do I just get off the plane and go wait at the gate for the connecting flight or do I have to do some type of check-in again?

3) Are my "checked" bags automatically moved from one plane to the other or do I have to go pick them up?

We also use BUF a lot and have another flight booked for March. As long as your flight all the way through was booked with one airline, they will take care of your checked luggage right through to your final destination, transfers and all.

The last time we flew was Oct and I already had printed out our boarding passes. You'll get a set for each leg of your trip. All you have to do in BUF is check your bags and go straight through to security. Each place will check your ID and boarding pass, so keep it handy. Once you get to Baltimore, provided you don't leave the secure area, all you have to do is make sure you're at your next gate on time, boarding pass in hand.

I hope this answers most of your questions. Have a great trip!

We've done the connecting flights in Baltimore and it's actually quite easy.

1) You only have to check in once online at the 24 hour mark of you leaving Buffalo - it will automatically check you in for the Baltimore flight. You print out two separate boarding passes.

2) You just get off one plane and walk to the other gate. You don't have to check in again. Beware though that Baltimore is bigger than Buffalo and you might have to walk a bit -- they have A, B and C ends of the terminal. You check on the TV screen for your gate # which will also have either A, B or C attached to it -- it's really easy to navigate though as there are lots of signs and it really it's that far away as they are all around a central hub.

3) They transfer your checked bags for you and we've never had a problem.

Hope this helps.
