SW Check-in

I completed my SW check-in this morning. We each had a different reservation. My daughter managed to snag an A code, but the rest of us have B codes. Since she is only 9, will we all be able to board with her under her A code, or does she need to board with us?

It probably depends on the gate attendant. I would ask when you get to the boarding gate. If you are extra polite they may let you board with her.

to have her board with you in the B's. PP is right and perhaps a nice gate attendant might let you all in on her A but I think this is unlikely and, really, unfair to the rest of the boarders. There should still be plenty of seats left when the B's board. I would just have her line up with you.

Or, you could board with her A pass (they just take the pass, don't check IDs at the gate) and let her board later with the rest of your family. You could then claim appropriate seats for the rest of the crew.

I always try to be really polite. Attitudes are contagious and it's much more pleasant when people spread kindness and respect. :)

I will inquire when we get to the gate as to how we should proceed, but I will be fine with either scenario. There are 4 of us going and as long as each child is next to a parent, I am OK with wherever we sit, even if it means we are split 2 and 2.

What are your actual numbers? I remember once I checked in my boyfriend and I and I had A and he had B, even though we were on the same reservation and checked-in at the same time. Turns out I had A40 (or whatever the last A number is) and he had B1 so we were back to back anyhow, as if it had been A25 and A26 for example.

She is A59 and the rest of us are in the B30s. I literally checked in at the 24 hr mark with seconds between check-ins. I am a little surprised her number was so much better than the rest of us.

That is bizarre, I wonder how that happened. I have seen people split up before in the line and the gate agents have always had them bored with the later position. If they let you all bored with the earliest one, undoubtedly there would be people who would throw fits.

I flew Southwest last week. When they called for people to line up they specifically announced that people with lower boarding numbers could not move up with others in their party who had higher numbers, but you could move back if you wish. My sister and I were B45 & B46 and could not find two seats together so we were a row apart. I agree an adult take the A pass and grab an aisle seat in an empty row. Worse case you might be able to be 3 and 1 if you can't get 2 and 2. The further back you go the better off you might be too.

Have a great trip!

That would be my suggestion as well. But, I would make sure mom took her boarding pass. You don't want dad taking it since the gate attendent may have an issue with Frank handing her Susie's boarding pass...at least make it the same sex!!!

Actually I don't advise switching boarding passes. Sometimes TSA does a last minute check as people board. Instead, I would ask (very nicely) if one parent could board with the child with the "A" pass. Then the two of you could save seats for the other two.

I've heard this same announcement. And yes, TSA sometimes does gate checks and matches ID to boarding passes, this has happened to me twice in Albany, NY.

You will know if the TSA is doing this....

Look for the blue shirts. Otherwise just change....

And anyone else wonder WHY they do this???:rotfl2:

Are they checking to make sure I didn't lose my ID in the airport?

Or are they admitting that the intial check was WORTHLESS! :rotfl2:

Seriously, if the first check was so good WHY do they need to make sure I didn't become someone else while in the airport?

IMHO it's a jobs act.. it takes two or three agents and a supervisor to "prove" I didn't lose my ID. :lmao:
