SW CC tips to get started

I am hoping the cc experts here can help give me some basic info or direct me to a site for getting/maximizing the Southwest CC's. I would like to get 1 or 2 for each my husband and myself so that we can then get a companion pass for each of our sons. We have a few places we want to go especially in 2019.

I know that you need lots of points but we can run purchases through our business so it should not take that long. We have very good credit scores, have not opened anything in the last 2 yrs either.

There is so much info out there and even here but I am finding it a bit overwhelming.

Right now it is super very easy to earn CP through Chase SW Visa cards. The SW biz has a 60k point offer and and SW personal has a 50k point offer. You and your DH apply for both, meet the minimum spend by the due date and you’ll have 110k points plus the point spend equal instant CP for both of you. The CP will be good through 12/31/19. I just got mine on 1/17/18 so almost 2 years of CP You both need to apply both cards if you are looking for 2 CP. The points need to be in one account. Some people have made the mistake that DH applies for one card and DW applies for another card. That won’t get you to CP.

Also, you will need to be under 5 new personal credit cards of any kind if the last 24 months to qualify. You would apply for the Biz first since you need to be at 0 applications in the last 30 days, once approved, then apply for the personal.

We did this last year and both got CP through this year.
We don't have a business but we each applied for both personal cards on the same day. (They offer 2 with different AFs) The first one was instantly approved and the 2nd was approved around 3 days later. It only counted as 1 inquiry for our credit scores.

If you are planning to do it you may not get the CP status till June. By the time you hit the required spending limit and the timing of the CC closing cycle. So you loose out on 6 months of using of the pass. Best to apply at the end of the year such that your get the card when the rewards point value is 50k or more and hit the spending limit in Jan. That way you get a nearly two full years to use the CP. That is how I did it. I earned my CP on Jan 5. Got the points posted by Jan 10. Leaving a ton of time to use the CP to the fullest. Don't forget to shop through the SWA shopping portal that way you earn even more points to reach the 110K in points you need to get the CP. Using the portal earns extra points and paying with your CC earns points which builds your bank of points faster.
