This year was the first time we used SW and we plan to use them again in June. We'll have 4 adults and 2 kids under age 7, and I will be the one booking. What's the best way to do these so we're all on the same flight, but to be able to take advantage of any Dings that come along? I know to book one way flights, but do I book 6 separate one ways? Thanks for any advice!

You can book all 6 one-way trips together as long as you're 100% sure all 6 will go. All will have the same confirmation number.

Had to book DH separate for our next trip just in case work gets in the way. This way we can change his ticket and still save our Ding fares. But if it's a case where we would all change if one person has a problem, then we book together.

Easier to cancel and rebook this way.

One thing to be aware of, if you book seats separately, there is no guarantee that there are going to be 6 (or x number) left.

For example, there is DING fair showing at $59- you don't know if there is one seat or 6.

Booking 6 separate OW will allow the most flexibility for changing in the event of specials. But I still have a tendency to always put a child on an adult itinerary. So, If it was me, I'd 3-4 separate reservations - still do OW though.

Southwest CS was able to split a res for 6 when only 4 seats were available at the discount rate. The 2 remaining seats later became available . It would be kind of a pain to book 6- 1 way tickets for each way .
