Hello, I'm a long term lurker and I'm hoping someone can help me out :) We'd like to rent a condo using our RCI weeks points, and while a three bedroom lockout would be my preference since it's my family of three plus a grandparent, while looking today I noticed that Sheraton Vistana Resort has 2 bedrooms and 1 bedrooms available. I'm wondering if it's possible to get a one bedroom next to a 2 bedroom that isn't a lockout? That way the grandparent could have some space, but could still easily come over to our 2 bedroom unit. I'm guessing that a one bedroom would be next to another 2 bedroom lock out, which wouldn't be ideal, but could work. I'm also wondering if the 1 bedrooms are on ground floor as there are some mobility issues.

Alternatively, does anyone have a suggestion for a possible 3 bedroom lock out other than Orange Lake? I've already got that one on my radar, but so far they don't have any available for the time we're hoping to go. Thanks!

Hi @east_coaster and :welcome:to the DIS Boards. Lots of great information here.

Yes, what you propose is possible. All one bedroom villas are in the Cascades or Lakes sections of Vistana Resort. There are regular 2BR villas in those same buildings, and they are interspersed throughout, (pretty sure the lockouts are end and center because of their layout, with regular 2BR's sit between). The resort is fairly accommodating to requests within your reserved class, so be sure that your 2BR is a sleeps 8 configuration when booking so they can place you together. The sleeps 6 2BR's are in other sections. All unit types are on all floors, but all of the 1BR villas are in buildings with elevators, so mobility shouldn't be a big issue. Note that Vistana cannot guarantee placement together, but experience indicates that they do a very good job a making these arrangements on request.

Another resort to consider with 3BR lockoffs trading in RCI is Silver Lake Resort. Wyndham Bonnet Creek also has 3BR Presidential Suites, although I am not certain they are lockoffs; there is a very in-depth thread for WBC here as well. I am sure there are other options as well, those are the couple I know.

Thank you @bankr63 ! We stayed at Silver Lake on our last trip with one of the other grandparents in two 2 bedrooms and really liked it. I’ll add it to the list!

I know this is older, but if you rent a 2 bedroom through RCI for Silver Lake, you can also call Silver Lake directly and upgrade to a 3 bedroom. That's if they have them open (they have never not had openings to upgrade when we have done this). They can give you the prices, but we have found we usually can upgrade for around $300 for a week.

Thank you! I forgot about this, but I've done it before at another resort that never lists their one bedrooms with RCI, but always have them available for upgrade when we check in.
