Surprising my DH with a night at The Plaza in NYC..now where should we eat?

The Oak Room or whatever it is at The Plaza is not open on Monday nights which is the night we will be spending.

Any suggestions on where we should eat? I can't afford it to be outrageously priced, but we love the chance to get dressed up for a nice dinner.

We are going August 2nd for just 1 night, figured we would just stroll around the city and enjoy 2 days together. I am so excited, I am going to do my best to keep it a secret until the morning when we go to the train station We have been having a rough couple of months and really need the time together.

Oh,what a nice surprise! I've always wanted to stay there. We, too, are DVC members. Are you using points?

Anyway, NYC has some of the best restaurants in the world so there's a huge selection from which to choose. We dined at L'espinasse in the St. Regis Hotel once, but dinner there would probably run around $300--but I can guarantee it will be an experience like no other.

I would definitely recommend Patria--I guess the cuisine is Cuban and is outstanding. It has an awesome atmosphere and is really a "happening" place. If you decide on somewhere for sure, I would definitely make a reservation. Try Zagan'ts restaurant guide--their reviews are pretty accurate.

I am not using our points for this stay, I thought about it, but then looked how many it was Then I was afraid using them, what if we had to cancel or anything.

I am so excited, I asked last week about The Plaza -vs- Marriott Marquis and just about everyone said The Plaza is the way to go. Can't wait!!

All are pretty close to your hotel. Great food, not stuffy, not at all touristy.
