surprising a trip

We are! Have a couple days at US and 5 at BWV booked in early March-leave the day after my daughter’s birthday. Not planning to tell them in advance though my husband almost blew the surprise tonight

We just did a surprise trip! My DD's bday is the beginning of December same as mine and we surprised her with trip for her 10th, spent a couple days at Disney and one at US, it was awesome!

My sister and I have a trip planned for January, the trip is not a surprise, but I am surprising her a Head Girl pin for Christmas that I picked up on my last trip and she's going to love it!

Yes! Gifting my 70 year old mother a trip with us in April. She’s been saying she wants to see the Wizarding World for years! Going to have my girls FaceTime her tomorrow as she opens a HP ornament that looks like a ticket on the HE.

Omg I love it!! I hope she has a fantastic time!

We are! This will be the first visit to UO/IOA for us, the kids will be so excited. Especially since we are doing a March break trip - not too far away at all!!

we did! for Christmas we wrapped up tshirts and gift cards for our 2 kids. they had no idea. My son who is a freshman almost started crying he was so excited. we are going in January, so it was also a "here's your surprise, we leave in 22 days, and we're traveling with friends" :)

We did the surprise on Christmas morning with Hogwarts acceptance letters. After 5 Disney trips, they are ready to try the dark side.
Unfortunately their “term” doesn’t start until late April. We will all have something to look forward to this winter!

I did! I ordered Universal Christmas ornaments for each of my kids to be opened on Christmas morning. :)

Yes, we are leaving in February and not telling our kids until the am of ( well, that is the plan)

We did a surprise on Christmas morning for a five-day trip to Universal in early January. We have two daughters--18 and 8-- and we had them open three presents. The first had two oranges in it, which just confused them. The second had a die-cast Southwest airplane, which just made the 8-year-old laugh and made the 18-year-old look at us like "what?" :) The third box had two packages of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, which finally helped them figure it out. The 18-year-old was really surprised, since we don't normally take big vacations. The 8-year-old just sort of shut down for about ten minutes, too shocked to know how to handle it! :) (She's fine--and really excited--now!)

I love the way you guys surprised them with the trip! We don't take many big vacations either so our trip is a really big deal. We were going to surprise our 8.5yo daughter midday at school and just go straight to the airport, but I was afraid that it might be so exciting that she wouldn't be able to enjoy it as much since she would be so overwhelmed. We decided that the anticipation of the trip will make things even more fun.

We did a scavenger hunt where she opened a box under the tree that had a little plane in it and a clue. There were several different Harry Potter clues like "where did Cedric figure out the 2nd clue of the triwizard tournament", "where would you find the item that Harry freed dobby with" etc. At the end the clue was something about floo powder and we had Newt's case hidden in our fireplace. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/0762464410) Under the journal inside the case there was a letter that looked like Harry's acceptance letter inviting her to tour Hogwarts and a ticket for her and her family signed by Prof McGonagall. She was so excited! Honestly though I think she was more excited about the HP scavenger hunt than the tickets. We're going in February and I guess that seems like forever away to a kid.
