I have been planning a surprise trip for over a year. We planned on driving because airfare is so high. We were going to pick the kids up from school and surprise them somehow. Now we are flying in the afternoon so the kids won't be going to school. They are going to wonder why I'm keeping them home from school. lol How should I surprise them that morning? The ages are 15, 8 and 5.

If they will sleep past the normall time tell them a fog/ice delay. If cold tell them the buses wouldn't start.

Can you tell them you are going to visit Grandma or other relatives?? Just an idea...

recruit you 15 yo to help surprise the younger ones...come up with the story and all...probably will be more creative (or know a better lie) than mom and dad:lmao:
Awesome surprise!!! I wouldn't be able to keep that to myself:sad2:

Well, now you are just making it hard.

How about leading them to believe they have Dr or dentist apointments!! Then when they find out it is Disney they will be even more surprised (Mickey is always better than the Dentist).

You could even go so far as, get in the car to go to the dentist (aka airport) and then hand them each a Mickey toothbrush and see how long it takes them to figure it out. :lmao:

I had a similar problem. We were leaving early Friday morning, but I didn't want them to miss the week's tests (wanted them to take them Thursday), so I told the teachers about our trip, and told the kids we were driving 3 hours to celebrate their great aunt's (totally made up person) 80th birthday party at her nursing home, and had to miss a day of school.

Our flight is 1:45. We have to get there 2 hours early and it takes 1 hour to get there. So there would be no point of them going to school at all. I've thought about a scavenger hunt but I need ideas! They know I wouldn't take them out of school for doctor or dentist appointments. I'm one of those mean moms ;)

How about have them get up and get ready for school, and right when it's time to leave, tell them they have a couple of hours to pack what they might want for the trip. Or, tell them the schools have a delayed opening (water main break?), and tell them on the way to the airport.

how about just before they leve for school you tell them that you lost your mind and today all of us are going to go on a surprise secrete field trip and then give them a big envolpe with clues in like a bording pass , a mickey mouse pen, a picture of the castle , something like that and then let them guess
