Surprise! You're going to Disney World! Our First Family Trip - POR 9/9-9/18

It was 3:45 PM when I pulled into the drive way. I had mentioned before that I would bring a surprise home and the girls were anxiously waiting. I handed them 6 balloons and they quickly realized their was more to the surprise. Attached to each balloon was a tag and each of them said a different word. The girls then took a few minutes to put the phrase together, “We are going to Disney World!” A little excitement until Brianna turned and said, “When?” and I said “Now…” and then we had all sorts of jumping, cheering, and pretend fainting. It was very exciting as they fumbled for their shoes and we jumped into the car. Before we left, we let the balloons float away and Alayna shouted, “see you at Disney World!” :lovestruc

Our car ride led us to the closest Alamo, which was an hour and forty-five minutes away. Once we got there, we found a brand new, white Camry waiting for us. We nicknamed her the “Great White”. I fell in love with that car. The car ride was pretty uneventful, since the children spent the majority of the time watching their Disney movies and sleeping. :woohoo:

The next morning we found ourselves in Florida. Only a few more hours until we reached our destination at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside.

Hi!!! I can't wait to read all about your trip!! We are staying at POR in 77 days(YAY!!!), so I am trying to read as much about it as possible, because I just can't wait to get there! That surprise was awesome, my hubby and I get way too excited to keep trips a secret from our kids, since we are apparently still children ourselves!! :rotfl:

We all got out of the car and stretched our legs, we were finally there. It was about 11:00 AM when we walked into the express check-in, since I had checked-in online. I was very surprised and my hubby appreciative that they told us that our room was already available. We were located in Alligator Bayou . Our room was 3421 which was very close to a parking lot, a small walk to the bus stop and not too far from a quiet pool. All of which was perfect for our family… but far from the main pool and very far from the Lobby/Restaurant. I didn’t mind though. ;)

We unpacked the car and then unpacked our suitcases. Brianna insisted this was our “apartment” for the week and Keeley never let us forget this was “home”. I knew Jeff was tired and wanted some sleep (a good indication was that he was already passed out), so we decided to get our swimming suits on and head to the main pool. There weren’t a bunch of people there, which was fine by us. The children got used to the water and then decided they wanted to try out the water slide. So I stationed myself near the water slide exit to catch them if the needed it.

Once we finished swimming, I suggested that we head back for a nap. I was pretty tired too, since I hadn’t slept much in the car. The kid’s agreed. :worship: When we woke up, we had a message from Nana.

Congrats! You guys will have so much fun!!

POR is so lush and fairly quiet. The children enjoyed chasing around the little lizards outside. There was only a few times when the busses were crowded. As much as I planned, I think I hadn't always made the best decisions on crowds. Mainly the problem was I made reservations so far out then things changed closer to our dates and I was unable to change our reservations.

Once we fully woke up, we decided to go see Nana. She lives a few hours away from Disney, but was able to meet us in Orlando. The girls also got to see their Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin. We all went to Sweet Tomato's. I loved the place and even considered coming back later in the week if it looked like we would be out of dining credits.

After dinner Alayna got a tummy ache and we went to Walgreen's for some Pepto... turned out to be the perfect thing to bring into the parks later.

We made it back to the resort, showered, and to bed for our next day... we were going to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

What a fantastic surprise for your young ones, not to mention a fantastic way to spring it on them. I love it.:wizard:
