My wonderful DH told me on Tuesday 12/20 that he was taking me to WDW as my Christmas gift

He told me a few days early so I could plan where I wanted to eat while we were there. I quickly got on the computer and started making ADR's :thumbsup2

With a little pixie dust we managed to eat at our favorites and try some new places we wanted to try:wizard:

Here is where we ate- reviews to follow

12/26
Wolfgang Puck Express
Portobellos

12/27
Studio Catering Company
Tokyo Dining - CP package

12/28
Via Napoli :thumbsup2
50 PT Diner

12/29
Boulangerie Patisserie
Flying Fish

12/30
Hurricane Hannah's
Le Cellier

12/31
Via Napoli
Earl of Sandwich

I had made reservations ahead for the CP package, the first Via Napoli, Flying Fish, Portobello's and Brown Derby which we cancelled 48 hours ahead

We got lucky by checking in the the afternoon for Le Cellier and someone had just cancelled a dinner ADR so we booked it.

I should also mention that we tried lots of new things like the Butterfinger Cupcake and the Carrot Cake Cookie from DHS. I also am addicted to ice cream so there was plenty of that to be had as well. Let's just say my shorts were a little tighter by the end of the week even after running for an hour most mornings and walking on average 12 miles a day:rotfl:

Once I download the pics I will review all of our meals

what a great gift...and you got some great ADR's. can't wait to see and read.

What a wonderful husband! I can't wait to hear all about WDW at Christmas - especially the dining experiences!:yay:

Meet the cast...

Me and DH - both love food and going out and trying new places and things. We went OPP for this trip and generally had 1 TS a day and a few snacks or split a CS for the other meal...

We started out well but we did not get pics of everything and some things were partially eaten before we remembered to take a photo:rolleyes1

I will tell you what we ate and what we thought about what we ate... I will add in the pics when available

We arrived at Disney at about 11:00 and checked into the Dolphin. The room was not ready so we headed to DTD to pick our AP's , TIW and grab some lunch. We went to WPE and split a Hearts of Romaine Salad and a BBQ Chicken pizza

It was very good, we really enjoyed the bruscetta that came with the salad. The pizza was also pretty good
We gave the meal an 8/10

We ate here about 8 years ago but had not been back since. We decided to give it another try and we both enjoyed our meal

We had spent the afternoon walking around Epcot but headed back to DTD for a 7:05 ADR... DTD was BUSY  and it was a struggle to navigate to the restaurant but we made it and were seated about 15 minutes after our arrival

We split the Mozzarella Stuffed Rice Balls - crispy fried risotto, fresh mozzarella, marinara sauce to start. It was very good :)

risoottoball.jpg

We also were given bread with a baked garlic clove and olive oil. This was just ok... The bread was bland and the baked garlic clove did not have much flavor.

Our entree's were much better. I ordered chicken which I normally never get at a restaurant but it sounded good and it was.. sorry I ate a few bites before the pic:rolleyes1
Grilled Chicken - roasted potatoes and caramelized sweet Florida onion
chickenandonions.jpg

DH ordered the a Pork Chop which I can not find on the menu right now.. he really enjoyed it.

We split this for desert ... it was amazing
Chocolate Paradise - Rich chocolate layer cake with chocolate ganache & toffee crunch
chocolatetoffeecake.jpg

overall we gave the meal an 8/10... we would def. eat here again but I do nto know if I will go out of my way to make an ADR

Never been to Portobello's. Looks good. I'll have to keep it in mind for a future trip.

ok... back again. 12/27 is what we will review today...

At this point I am still in awe at being at Disney :lovestruc
On this day we had a 3:55 CP Package for Tokyo Dining and then on to the 6:45 show which by the way was incredible and moving. I was completely blown away by the performance. Blair Underwood was the narrator and he was fantastic.

We started the day by heading to DHS to get a fastpass for TSM for later that . We got the fastpass and rode RR and the Backlot Tour when DH said we should eat a light lunch so we went to Studio Catering CO. Sorry no pic for this :confused3 We shared the Turkey Club pressed sandwich with fries and I also got a side of apple slices to feel a little healthy:lmao:

It was pretty good . DH really enjoyed the sandwich as well. The fries were fresh and good ( I only had a few because I ate those healthy apple slices :) As far as CS goes DH says 8/10- I agree

Next we walked over to Epcot. It was around 12:30 and DH and I decided to split an ice cream cone from France. This is one of my favorite treats. 9/10 all the way

At 3:55 we had our Tokyo Dining CP Package. This was a brand new restaurant for us

DH started with Assorted Tempura - shrimp, chicken breast, and seasonal vegetables served with Japanese Tempura dipping sauce
I ordered the Tuna Salmon Sensation - sashimi grade raw tuna, salmon and avocado cubes served with a sesame-sake-soy dressing

tempuraandtunaapp.jpg

I really enjoyed my tuna salmon app. It was very good. DH liked his tempura. he said the batter was very light.

For entrees I ordered the Swordfish with ginger sauce and Asian Veggies. It was excellent. The sauce was yummy.

DH ordered the Fuji Bento Box which came with sliced sirloin, california roll, sashimi, tempura shrimp and veggies. He loved this . I had a few bites of sashimi and it was wonderful and fresh

For dessert I ordered Green Tea Pudding and unexpectedly loved it. DH ordered the Chocolate Ginger Cake which he loved but I did not care for.

DH gave Tokyo dining an 8.5/10 I gave it a 7.5 . It was good but I don't need to rush to go back. Service was slow and not very attentive. The food was decent .

great update never been to either of the table Service or Counter service. WPE is on my list to try. That pizza looked really good

Hey! Former Buffalonian here following your dining report. I appreciate your t-shirt in your first picture! Looking forward to reading more!

We are hoping to go to Tokyo Dining in July and I'm really liking the look of the bento box your husband had. I love being able to try all different bits and pieces at a restaurant.

Great reviews!

Thanks for following everyone ... My first attempt at a dining review

Next up 12/28

Via Napoli and 50 PT

We started the morning by walking over to DHS to get a TSM FP again. Then we slowly meandered over to Epcot and did a little shopping at Mousegears with a 20% before 12pm coupon we got on the bottom of a receipt. DH bought me the giant Eeyore I always pick up and put down on every other trip. We got him Epic Mickey for the Wii I got him for Christmas :thumbsup2

We had a 12:45 reservation for Via Napoli. This was our favorite meal on the last trip so I was so excited to score a reservation with such little notice. Via definitely did not disappoint :woohoo:

We actually got this same meal 2x on this trip. We ate here again for lunch on 12/31. I am lacking some pictures because we were so excited we forgot to take pictures of the pizza :scared1:

To start we got the calamari with marinara sauce. This was awesome. We are huge fans of calamari and try it at most restaurants to compare. we enjoyed it and the sauce was very good. 9/10
calamari.jpg

Next we had the family style salad. It was very good. Mixed field greens with tomato, olives, cucumber, pepperdews and jalapenos. It was nice and light. here is the picture. Sorry but by the time we remembered to take the photo most of the salad was gone :confused3
viasalad.jpg

Next was the pizza. Yum the pizza :lovestruc we ordered an individual pizza with Chicken Sausage and Fontina Cheese . I am now dreaming about it. I love the taste of wood oven pizza. This is my favorite pizza anywhere, and I am from a place that is known for good pizza. 10/10

On the first trip to Via my DH wanted to try the tiramisu. I had a few bites and it was very good.
tiramasou.jpg

All in all it was so very good. 10/10 love this place

Later in the night we went to DHS to see the lights again and to use our FP's. We went to the Tune in Lounge at 50 PT and split the fried chicken. It was a huge portion and I am glad we did not order anything else. I normally do not eat fried chicken but decided to give it a go. The chicken was very moist and good. The collard greens were ok and the fries were decent.
50ptchicken.jpg

all in all 7.5/10
