Surprise! We're NOT going to Disney! 9/18-9/25 <<Update 3/24 Page 21>>

WOW See this is the reason i would stay at Contemporary! What a beautiful view!!!
Love your description of walking down main street. it's nothing you can truly put into words!
Great PP! as always your family is adorable even if Gabby was using Christopher has a foot rest! FUNNY!
The look on Gabby's face at Donald! Priceless!!!!

Magic Kingdom 1.0

We were back at BLT and we were making Juliana do her homework. I was itching to get over to Magic Kingdom- probably more than the kids were. I had to do something while I was waiting, so I walked out to the balcony and took a few pictures.

Sorry for all the pictures, but it was the first real chance I had to get out there and enjoy the view. Keep them coming, they are fabulous!!

It wasn't long before Juliana finished her writing and we took the stroll over to MK. It took about 10 minutes to get from the room to the gates. Not bad. Before we knew it we were there, walking down Main St. listening to the music and taking in the sights. We walked toward the castle and everyone was just so happy to be back.

Well, maybe Christopher wasn't that happy. Gabby was using his head as a foot rest. What a beautiful family!

The doors to the castle were open so we figured we'd just walk on through. We don't get to do that too often.

Looking back towards Main St.

The cloud cover was getting thicker, I was hoping our night wouldn't get cut short.

It was already after 5pm and we didn't really have an agenda- which was weird for us. And actually it felt good just to go with the flow. First stop- Cinderella's Carousel.

Next up was Winnie the Pooh. The kids really had fun playing in the waiting area. Who am I kidding? I love to play in that area!!

Even Gabby was getting into the action. I miss those chubby legs. One day she's going to be mad at you for saying that! But I agree, they're cute!

We did go on a ride after all the playing....

The skies were getting darker, but we pushed on toward Storybook Circus.

We grabbed some child swap tickets for the Barnstormer and the rain started. It wasn't raining hard but I let the girls and Christopher go first. I took Gabby over to Big Top Souvenirs and we hung out there for a while. She was getting a kick out of all the different stuffed animals. She loved the Donald and Daisy ones...

We continued to wait for the girls + Christopher for a while. I walked over to the door and it was pouring out. Oh man... I can only imagine what is gonna happen when they find me. Did those happen to come home with you?:goodvibes

Up next... What to do? Wishes? Wishes?
Rain, rain go away! The family wants to stay and play!!

Wow...while BLT is not on my radar to stay at, I have to say that for that view, I just might have to reconsider.
The problem is every time you are in the room, that castle is staring at you saying 'What the he77 you doing in the room, get your butt over here!' :rotfl2:

Really? I seem to remember you told me it took a bit longer the next day. ;)
Well, it is 10 minutes from the door (outside of the door)... it's getting out the door that is the problem.

Poor Christopher. And Gabby just looks like "dare say a word to me...my fist is ready." :rotfl:
You can see the great mood Gabby was in.

I think Juliana would have preferred Space Mountain.
She didn't care.... she was just happy to be back. ;)

Darn...we should have done this one with Mr. Mark because he likes playing there too.
Yea, we never made it over that way.... maybe it was the 3 rides on the carousel that slowed us down. :rotfl2:

No!!!! The chubby legs are gone?
Pretty much. Her legs have thinned out quite a bit.

They obviously let you in.
Of course they did... I used my charm! :thumbsup2

It's okay, Daddy, they are smaller than the ones you make me pose with.
Isn't that the truth!

I'm guessing they didn't have their ponchos.
Negative.

Hmmmm...it's been so long ago I don't remember if you told me you stayed or not.
I know.... this trip feels like it happened ages ago!

And what a view it was! Wowza! Very beautiful! I love how BTMR pokes out between the weinie and Astro too.
It looks so tiny from that angle.

And you are right. No agenda is a lovely feeling. And that's why longer trips are so nice. That or more frequent trips than I get. Just going where you feel you want to when the fancy strikes.
Every time we try to get a longer trip in something happens. I'm hoping for a 10 day trip soon.

Tim, your kids are adorable. Cherish the chubby legs as long as you can.
Thank you Liesa! The chubb is pretty much gone now.

WOW See this is the reason i would stay at Contemporary! What a beautiful view!!!
It is a nice view... the hotel itself loses a bit in the decoration department. It is very plain IMO.

Love your description of walking down main street. it's nothing you can truly put into words!
Every time I come around the corner and see that castle, I get flooded with the memories from the first time I saw it. That is a feeling I never want to forget. :goodvibes

Great PP! as always your family is adorable even if Gabby was using Christopher has a foot rest! FUNNY!
Thank you! for some reason, Christopher didn't seem to mind.

The look on Gabby's face at Donald! Priceless!!!!
Maybe she was having flashbacks for seeing Donald in the cruise terminal. :rotfl2:

Keep them coming, they are fabulous!!
You wouldn't see any more pics if it was up to Kathy.

What a beautiful family!
Thank you!

One day she's going to be mad at you for saying that! But I agree, they're cute!
If I can remember back, Gabby was the chubbiest of the 3.

Did those happen to come home with you?:goodvibes
Nah, I think we have every Disney plush already.

Rain, rain go away! The family wants to stay and play!!
::yes:: ::yes::

Well, if you're going to have to impatiently wait, I can think of worse views to have.

It wasn't long before Juliana finished her writing and we took the stroll over to MK. It took about 10 minutes to get from the room to the gates. Not bad.
And that is why BLT would be an awesome place to stay. I don't care what the rooms are like, that location is ridiculously awesome.

Well, maybe Christopher wasn't that happy. Gabby was using his head as a foot rest
Isn't that what brothers are for? :rotfl:

We continued to wait for the girls + Christopher for a while. I walked over to the door and it was pouring out. Oh man... I can only imagine what is gonna happen when they find me.
Why? It isn't your fault. Unless you took all the ponchos, told them they wouldn't need them and then didn't tell them you'd be hiding inside. Yeah, I guess this could get ugly.

I was itching to get over to Magic Kingdom- probably more than the kids were.

Your kids are weird. :confused3

Sorry for all the pictures, but it was the first real chance I had to get out there and enjoy the view.

Don't apologize, it's a fantastic view!:thumbsup2

Having a short walk to the park would be fantastic.

Uh oh. Better make yourself scarce.

That's true. I could of been looking at Bay Lake.

And that is why BLT would be an awesome place to stay. I don't care what the rooms are like, that location is ridiculously awesome.
The walk is great... Not sure why anyone would take the monorail back. :badpc:

Isn't that what brothers are for? :rotfl:
YUP!

Ponchos? Who said anything about ponchos? :headache:

Your kids are weird. :confused3

Glad you like it... I hope you don't mind when I post some more later in this report.

Having a short walk to the park would be fantastic.
I'm looking forward to the short walk to Epcot when we stay at the Beach Club.

Uh oh. Better make yourself scarce.
Maybe they wouldn't find me in the gift shop. :scratchin

i agree the building is a bit blah, looks like every other building here in Chicago.. It's the view!!! Much better view there then Chicago!!! LOL!

It looks so tiny from that angle.

Yeah, it kinda does, which makes it even cooler. I mean when you're right up next to it, it seems really big. But to see it in the same frame as the castle and the even bigger SM, it really is kinda tiny.

Every time we try to get a longer trip in something happens. I'm hoping for a 10 day trip soon.

Life. sigh.

That'll be great! Enough time for entire days by the pool and long naps, or just a monorail tour.

Thank you Liesa! The chubb is pretty much gone now.

It happens so fast! I know. And here I am waiting for the chubs on some grandkids someday. The circle of life...

I've never been to Chicago... Well only to the airport for a layover. I'm sure there are some beautiful views from there.

I guess it's all about perspective... or distance.

1st world problems. :crazy2:

That sounds wonderful... maybe someday.

Im just starting to read your report. I hope we can take a Disney cruise soon and these photos are making me want to book it now! lol.
:welcome: thanks for reading!!!!!

Did you see the 2016 itineraries came out today? None from NYC.. We were waiting for a NYC cruise. Guess we will have to wait a bit longer.

Magic Kingdom 1.0 cont.....

I was hanging out with Gabby in the Big Top while the rest of the clan were riding the Barnstormer- in the rain. By the time they were done, they were a little wet. Actually, they weren't as wet as I thought they would of been. We formulating a plan of what to do with the rest of the evening. Since it was still raining, we found a seat under cover near the bathrooms across from the Barnstormer. We had packed some PP&J for the kids- who were hungry by this time. We sat there and relaxed for a bit when all of the sudden the rain stopped as quickly as it started. Considering the park had cleared out a bit due to the rain, we thought this was a good time to hit a few rides while we headed towards Main St.

First stop..... Dumbo!

We had a great ride... then we stopped at the Tea Cups. The camera was acting up due to all the moisture.

Gabby was not amused.

Maybe she just wanted to be held by mommy.

The time stamp of that last picture was 8:20pm. After the Tea Cups we continued on to Main St. when it started raining again. We were ducking in and out of buildings trying to stay dry. The rain was coming down hard, we were wet, and we figured they were going to cancel Wishes. OK, staying in MK wasn't gonna happen, so how were we going to get back to BLT without getting totally soaked? How bout the monorail? We sprinted over to the monorail dodging huge puddles and rivers of runoff.

The line for the monorail was very long and wasn't moving fast at all. I guess we weren't the only ones who had the idea to hop on the rail. Finally, we were on, heading back to the Contemporary. Wouldn't you know by the time we arrived, the rain had mostly stopped. I talked everyone into sitting on the observation deck at the Contemporary to see if Wishes would go on.

9:00 rolled around. No fireworks.
9:05 No fireworks.
9:07 No fireworks.
9:09 as we were getting up to walk back to the room. They started. But there was no soundtrack... and the rain aaas starting up again. I was able to get some shots.

As the fireworks kept going the rain was coming down harder and harder. Melody & her mom took Christopher and Gabby inside and Juliana & I sat out on the deck watching the rest of them. It was fun but not seeing them from Main St. and having no music was a bummer.

When they were over, we walked back to the room to get out of our wet clothes and get the kids to bed. We had an early start the next morning..... hopefully we'd get there on time.

Up next- Characters, characters, and more MK fun!

Tim, weren't you staying at BLT? If you go up to the top there, where Top of the World Lounge is, there is an observation deck and they DO pipe in the music for the fireworks. Something to keep in mind for another visit. ;)

Oh I almost forgot about the Dumbo ride. Still noticing the similarities and differences between Disneyland and MK, since WDW will be a 1st for us. The fireworks look pretty even with the rain.

Dang! Such a bummer that while the park was cleared out, the rain hadn't stopped. And that even watching Wishes wasn't all it could have been. :( But knowing you have an early morning makes me wonder if getting tucked in earlier wasn't all for the best.

Love your Dumbo picture.. Nothing beats your view of Wishes. Gabby. She looked THRILLED to be on the tea cups! that is how i look going on it.. and My Mom is not there to hold me..

Yes that is my lovely city of Chicago.. North side actually i believe that would be North beach! Did you take this picture? it's beautiful! looks pretty from a higher point! HA!

Sorry for all the pictures, but it was the first real chance I had to get out there and enjoy the view.
.... yeah, and it's an ok view, I guess ;)

That really is a fun queue they have for Winnie the Pooh - and nice that there is a ride at the end of the queue as well.

Oh wow, that sounds like pretty bad rain and I would think being on the Barnstormer in the rain is not the best - but glad to hear it ended quickly though.

Dumbo at night with the colored lights, etc. is so great!
Gabby was not amused.

haha, reminds me of those McKayla is not impressed meme :rotfl:

At least you were able to see some of the firworks, but with no soundrack doesn't really feel like Wishes, I wouldn't think :confused3

Well that turned out better than expected.

Or not. :headache:

You sang since there wasn't a soundtrack, didn't you???

Bummer about Wishes, I need to music to really get into but, still pretty cool you could see it from your hotel. Sounds like a good day at Magic Kingdom.

By the time they were done, they were a little wet. Actually, they weren't as wet as I thought they would of been.

Well, that was anti-climactic.

Gabby was not amused.

So, par for the course then? The photo had me :rotfl2:

Seems logical.

It looks cool, though. And it would have been a bummer to get soaked, too.
