Just called last night to get rates at the on site properties, and I was given great rates on all the hotels, but since the DBF isn't coming, I didn't want him to miss out on the super coolness of DLH or GCH. Keeping this trip a secret from the kids, don't know how I am going to make it 7 1/2 weeks without telling them. They think we aren't returning for 3 years as we have other Disney travel plans over that time.
It is going to be a very short trip, just 1 day in the park, Monday, Dec 17. Now, just to decide where to mak out dining reservations. :)

I found it so hard to keep our trip a surprise from the kids but it was totally worth it to see their happy surprised faces once we told them. Even though you will only get one day in disneyland, one day is better then no days and I'm sure it will be such a joy to see all the christmas decorations. Have a wonderful time and good luck not spilling the beans:)

You can do it! I kept my 7yo sons first trip (last year) a suprise for 5mos!

How do you plan on doing the big reveal? :dance3:

We are keeping our trip a secret from our son also.

My only fear is that he is actually disappointed that we are not going to Idaho (with him you never know).

I am still deciding, although I have a couple of options. I am sure when we hit I-5 they will pick up on it, which is only 1 hour into our driving.

I will pick them up from their dads early Sunday, sometime between 9-10am (they usually don't come home until 6pm), and tell them we are going to get one of the Christmas presents. Then my options are as follows: we are going to watch a movie, we are going ice skating, or we have dinner reservations. If I do the dinner option, once they finally ask where dinner is, I will tell them Goffy's Kitchen (just made the reservations now). If it is movies or ice skating, I will wait until they pick up on it on their own.

I love that my oldest thinks we aren't going back for 3 years, he is really mad about that, so this will be a nice surprise. :)
