Surprise trip for hubby at Portofino Bay & Universal..

I am thinking about surprising my husband for his birthday in January, with a 2 night stay at the Portofino Bay. The last time we vacationed at Universal, we visited Portofino and he fell in the love with it. He absolutely loved the rooms we were able to see. So I thought I would put together a short weekend trip in January and spend two nights there.

What will the crowds and rates be like during that time?? I will probably buy the airline tickets late summer or early fall. Is that a good idea for January???

My tentative dates are January 6th and 7th, checking out on the 8th.
