Surprise Solo Weekend Adventure Time!: An April 2015 PTR - COMPLETED 4/27!

Your plans look so awesome!!! It will be a very busy trip, but soooo worth it! I really like the idea of a nice sit down breakfast before you have to leave the Disney bubble, great way to end the vacation.

Your plans look fantastic! We really liked BOG for lunch, I think you will too. I'm still completely jealous that you are able to drive to DW in 5 hours. I like car trips so much more than getting on a plane but we aren't close enough to anything to justify 18 or more hours in the car vs a 2-3 hour plane ride :crazy2:.

We had dinner at the POFQ food court and were very happy with the food, the fried chicken is yummy! DH actually liked the food court there better than at AoA. Hope to stay there next time. I wish. I wish I wish:genie:

You managed to get everything in!!! Great job!! I am so surprised how many people were in your AK photo! geesh!

All caught up! I have been following along on your December PTR....how exciting you get to squeeze a weekend trip in before that!! :) I love your plans, looks like you are going to have a great time!
Hi, Deedee! Thanks for following and joining in!

I love seeing all of your plans!
Your spreadsheets are fantastic! I love that they combine a detailed breakdown of the day with conserving space.
Thanks! I geek out over them pretty hard! I already have the workbook built for my December trip, and once the park hours come out in May, I'll get to work setting up those eight days worth! :bitelip:

So awesome that you now have a full day at MK! I hope lunch at BOG is amazing ... I've also only done dinner, but I really love the castle, it's amazing! YAY for getting a FP+ for 7DMT - so amazing that you got the last one!
Yes! both of these finds were completely MAGICAL, and I wasn't expecting to nab either one! It all just fell into place... like magic. :wizard:

I hope the weather works out for FoF ... I know you were upset that it got rained out in September, so I'm really glad you're (hopefully) getting a chance to see it soon!
Maaaaaan, I'm telling you, if it gets rained out again, I'm just going to accept I'm not meant to see it and will suck it up and watch it on YouTube instead.

We had some great short waits during the first MSEP in February! Plus, once the first MSEP & Wishes are over, at least 50% of the guests leave (NOTE: This is not an actual percentage, just my guess), so the lines get much shorter!
This is encouraging! And I completely support your totally made-up statistic of 50%! I can get down with that! :rotfl:

And if you're having trouble staying up ... Starbucks/Main Street Bakery is open until closing!
This will happen, I'm sure. I suspect that somewhere around the time MSEP ends, I'll likely start hunting down coffee coffee coffee to get me though a couple more hours! :hyper:

Totally with you on your AK must-dos ... I skipped Kiliminjaro Safaris once, and it was bad news. It really is so awesome! I hope you have a great safari with lots of animals coming out to say hi! The new FOTLK theater is nice ... although it doesn't really seem that different than the old one to me
I can't go to AK and NOT hit Kilimanjaro first thing. It would be blasphemy! And I'm excited to check out FotLK's new digs, just because YAY NEW STUFF! :thumbsup2

Epcot plans look great too! Make sure you take some time to "wander" around and look at the topiaries - they have some really amazing ones! Illuminations ... such an amazing show!
I will be sure to appreciate the topiaries while stuffing my face. :lmao: I promise! I really enjoy just wandering aimlessly through World Showcase, so I think it will be fun to see them.

Downtown Disney would be a great end to the day ... but you might be a little worn out after such a long trip, so you may just want to call it quits after Epcot.
More than likely I will be ready to just go back to the room after Epcot, honestly. But with it being such a short trip, I feel like I need to milk EVERY POSSIBLE MOMENT of fun out of it. So I'm going to try real hard to make it to DTD for a little while. Which just means... time for more coffee coffee coffee!!! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

Ohana should be an awesome departure day breakfast!
I think so, too! Good times and a full belly and a smile on my face... That's how I want to end my weekend. :cutie:

Sounds like you've got a great trip planned! It really will be the best Disney Weekend Ever!
I sure hope so!!! :cloud9:

Both my TA friend and my husband have "forbidden" me from making daily spreadsheets like this - and I SOOOOO want to, but they don't think Little Monster will be able to stick to any type of schedule, so we might both end up miserable if we try. LOL. I love seeing the daily breakdown. :)
Honestly, I think it all depends on how you approach them. If you made daily spreadsheets and you think that they might make you feel like OMG WE HAVE TO STICK TO THE SCHEDULE... :scared: Yeah, probably not good even for a solo adult, much less a family with a toddler.

However, that being said, if you can be more relaxed towards them, they might be very helpful. I view mine just as a guide for the day, not a hard and fast commitment. If I want to skip something that I've put on my day's itinerary, I do. No big whoop. If I want to change it up completely, no worries. But it's nice to have it all out there in black and white for me throughout the day as a reference, and to help me to hopefully accomplish all my goals for that day without feeling overwhelmed or rushed. :cutie:

Your plans look so awesome!!! It will be a very busy trip, but soooo worth it! I really like the idea of a nice sit down breakfast before you have to leave the Disney bubble, great way to end the vacation.
It WILL be a very busy trip, I'm going to come back home and be completely pooped! :crazy2: But at least my belly will be full! And it's true, I've found that waking up and just getting in there car and trying home is just TOO heartbreaking. It's much easier when I can go and get one last dose of magic to kind of eeeeeease my way out of the Disney bubble. ::MickeyMo

It's SO funny how "the grass is always greener," as they say. Believe it or not, I'm a little jealous of the people who can fly down! I mean sure, being able to drive down saves me a ton of money, and I LOVE that part. But especially since I enjoy traveling solo, it would be SO NICE to just go to the airport, get on a plane, have it whisk me away to MCO, and then hop on a Magical Express bus to my resort. I could read a book during the flight, maybe even nap! I think it sounds wonderful. :cloud9: However, from my closest airport, Savannah, there's no non-stop flights to MCO. So essentially I would have to fly from Savannah up to either Atlanta or Charlotte, then catch another flight down to Orlando. Once you account for two flights + a layover, it's actually FASTER to just drive the 5 hours. So until an airline starts offering direct flights from SAV to MCO, and at a reasonable price... it'll always be road trips for this girl! :car:

We had dinner at the POFQ food court and were very happy with the food, the fried chicken is yummy! DH actually liked the food court there better than at AoA. Hope to stay there next time. I wish. I wish I wish:genie:
I had lunch there 10 years ago or so, but I remember really enjoying it. We were staying at All-Star Music on that trip, and both my friend and I commented on how much better POFQ's food court seemed. I remember I got the Muffaletta sandwich, and it was AMAZEBALLS. I'm a little sad that I don't have any time in my trip to do a lunch or dinner there, but at least I'll get to check it out for breakfast. :teeth:

Wow, that looks so exciting Billie! I can already hear the Celebrate The Magic song, and hope that you enjoy the viewing area. I've eaten at BOG twice for lunch and loved it both times, and you will absolutely love the Festival of Fantasy parade too. So happy for you!
Yeah, I'm so stoked I got that lunch ADR! I really was expecting it to tell me "No Times Available." I was shocked by how many times there were for me choose from! I really enjoyed dinner there on the last trip, so I'm excited to see the differences at lunch!

You managed to get everything in!!! Great job!! I am so surprised how many people were in your AK photo! geesh!
Ugh, that crowd at AK that day probably also contributed to why I cut my time there short. I was tired and not feeling so hot, and it was rainy, and people kept climbing in front of my ECV and blocking my view of the tigers, and I think I was just grumpy and fed up. So I sacrificed Kali and FotLK that day in favor of a much-needed nap. I also think all those construction walls were perhaps squeezing people into already narrow walkways, and making the crowds feel just that much denser. At least the walls in the photo, around the Tree of Life, should be down now, right? I hope?

More than likely I will be ready to just go back to the room after Epcot, honestly. But with it being such a short trip, I feel like I need to milk EVERY POSSIBLE MOMENT of fun out of it. So I'm going to try real hard to make it to DTD for a little while. Which just means... time for more coffee coffee coffee!!! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

I highly recommend picking up some coffee at Ghirardelli at DTD ... they have awesome coffee. I got coffee there twice on my last trip.
(And there's also Starbucks at DTD ... that's probably good too!)
I totally understand wanting to milk every moment of fun out of the trip ... but remember that you need to be awake for the drive home!

I totally understand wanting to milk every moment of fun out of the trip ... but remember that you need to be awake for the drive home!
I know, you're soooo right! It's actually kinda funny, I never mentioned this in my September TR, but...

Because I missed out on Kali River Rapids and Festival of the Lion King at AK, and then the Festival of Fantasy parade at MK, I got this "bright" idea in my head to pay the $10 bucks (and change) to add one more day onto my ticket, so I could run back and do those things before leaving town on my departure day. So I went, stood in line at Guest Relations forever, and added a day onto my ticket. Then that final day came... And I realized there was just no freakin' way. :sad2: I was just FAR too pooped, and I knew I also had that 5-hour drive to contend with. My heart was saying "YAAAASSSSS!" but my body was saying "OH GOD NO MORE PLEASE NOOOOOO!" So I just ate breakfast and went home with an unused park hopper day that expired 14 days later. Live and learn!

YAY!!! So happy that Rachel is letting you bounce early on Friday! That'll be a great way to get more out of your trip! :thumbsup2 I've never heard of Krystal before... but sounds good to me!

Woohoo for that incredible rate at the Magnuson Grand! That makes having the extra night really extra special!

I'm really loving your spread sheets - they're very well organized, clear, and easy to read.

Hmmmm... beignets :lovestruc

I'm so excited that MK is open until 2am on that day - you'll have that much more opportunity to squeeze every drop out of that day. ::yes::

Yay for locking in a BoG ADR for lunch! I have one scheduled too and I'm sooo excited about it! :hyper: I'm also excited about the pre-order option.

:rotfl:on your "overnight nap" - that's for sure! But it'll all be sooo worth it. :goodvibes

Don't worry, Billie, I too am a proud member of "Team Wuss" for Mission Space! ;)

Yay (again... I know I've said it many times before ) for the F&G food booths for your Epcot dinner option.

You sure are making the very most of your time at Disney - GO YOU!!!

Great idea to do a character breakfast at O'hana before hitting the road. Not only does it elongate your vacation, but you have the added benefit of doing the breakfast as you've always wanted. :goodvibes

should be down now, right? I hope?

Pictures i have seen some of them are gone... I don't think we will fully see AK again until late 2017 after avatar is completed... I am one of the slim % that is looking forward to it!

I'm SO happy that you are still getting your quick Disney weekend AND a whole park day added to it!

Love, love, love the spreadsheets. Makes my overplanning heart soar!

I think all your plans look great. I'm interested to hear about the Wishes FP+ viewing area - considering that for our next trip, especially if the rumors of a fourth FP+ are true!

Sunshine Seasons is delicious! I got the fish tacos last time - so good but a little of the spicy side. And the strawberry shortcake is as good as it looks!

Excited to hear about your F&G final food list!

What a great way to end your trip! Ohana is so great for dinner so I'm sure breakfast will be fun too!

Rachel was 110% cool with it, she cut me off and said "Yep, no problem!" before I could even finish explaining why. :rotfl: And as for Krystal, it's pretty much the South's answer to White Castle (which we don't have down here). Nom nom nom!

I'm really loving your spread sheets - they're very well organized, clear, and easy to read.
Thanks! I geek out over Excel pretty hard. :surfweb:

Hmmmm... beignets :lovestruc
Are they delicious? I've never had them, but it's one of those sort of "legendary" Disney food items that you end up reading so much about here on the DIS... so I feel like I just HAVE to try them! ::yes::

I'm so excited that MK is open until 2am on that day - you'll have that much more opportunity to squeeze every drop out of that day. ::yes::
I hope I can hang until the end! If I finish everything I want to do before, I'll go ahead and call it a night though, so I can get a leeeetle more sleep for the next day. :thumbsup2

Yay for locking in a BoG ADR for lunch! I have one scheduled too and I'm sooo excited about it! :hyper: I'm also excited about the pre-order option.
I'm still shocked that I got it at all, I couldn't believe it! I thought I was dreaming when I pulled up the date and so many times popped up! :woohoo:

:rotfl:on your "overnight nap" - that's for sure! But it'll all be sooo worth it. :goodvibes
Hahaha! I figured you would appreciate that, Ms. Commando! :P

Don't worry, Billie, I too am a proud member of "Team Wuss" for Mission Space! ;)
Sometimes I think that they reversed the way they named those team colors. Because seriously, if I ride Orange side, then by the time I stumble off of it, the color I turn is GREEN. :crazy2:

Yay (again... I know I've said it many times before ) for the F&G food booths for your Epcot dinner option.
I'm so looking forward to this! I have my short list made, I'll be sure to post it between now and the trip! :flower:

You sure are making the very most of your time at Disney - GO YOU!!!
Thanks! That was the idea! :D

Yessss! It's the perfect opportunity to finally do it! :hyper:

Pictures i have seen some of them are gone... I don't think we will fully see AK again until late 2017 after avatar is completed... I am one of the slim % that is looking forward to it!
I'm reserving judgement about it, honestly! While I don't think science fiction fits in at AK at all, I understand the message of the film and the tie-in to AK. And I trust Disney to do an incredible job with it, and imagine that it will be insanely gorgeous at night. So I'm going to remain a fence-sitter on the matter until I actually get to see the final results. :scratchin

I'm SO happy that you are still getting your quick Disney weekend AND a whole park day added to it!
You and me both, sister! :cutie:

Love, love, love the spreadsheets. Makes my overplanning heart soar!
Thanks!!! But murphy's law, no sooner than I share them here on the thread, now I have to go and change some of them! (More on that in the upcoming update...)

I think all your plans look great. I'm interested to hear about the Wishes FP+ viewing area - considering that for our next trip, especially if the rumors of a fourth FP+ are true!
Oh, there will be a Trip Report to follow, don't you worry! With pics! (I took too many fireworks/parade photos last time though, so this time I'm just going to snap a few and then enjoy!) :thumbsup2

Sunshine Seasons is delicious! I got the fish tacos last time - so good but a little of the spicy side. And the strawberry shortcake is as good as it looks!
I loooove Sunshine Seasons! Not just the food, but even the area itself. I can stare up at the ceiling for hours! I did breakfast last time, so I'm super looking forward to trying out the lunch offerings! :goodvibes

Excited to hear about your F&G final food list!
I think I picked good ones! 2 savories then desserts and drinks! Yum yum yum! :bitelip: Will post more soon!

What a great way to end your trip! Ohana is so great for dinner so I'm sure breakfast will be fun too!
I can't wait! And especially with it being such a short trip where I may decide against standing line for characters, I feel really good knowing that I have a guaranteed Mickey encounter scheduled before I head home! :thumbsup2

16 days until WDW! :hyper:
**************************************************

Hey, ya'll! :grouphug:

Okay, well... Heh heh. Of course, I finally post my spreadsheets and write up all about my daily plans... and then I go changing things. :rotfl:

Not huge massive world-altering changes, but definitely smart ones I think: Instead of cutting out of work early on Friday... I said screw it, and I'm just taking a vacation day. (Which Rachel was 110% fine with.) That way I can sleep in a bit (and lord knows I need all the sleep I can get, since I won't be sleeping much for the following few days), leave my car at my apartment instead of at work, and pick up my rental car at 2pm and be on the road by 3pm. That'll put me rolling into Kissimmee around 8pm or just after, instead of midnight. Not only do I feel safer about driving earlier and mostly during the day, but it'll also mean I can get to sleep earlier that night. Which also means being able to wake up an hour earlier on Saturday, and hopefully getting to MK that much earlier, too! :thumbsup2 And it's only costing me an extra $34 on the rental!

There's been another change, as well: I called tonight and switched my booking from Room Only, to a package to include the Quick-Service Dining Plan. :hyper: I sat down this afternoon and ran the numbers and realized with all the quick-service meals I'm planning, it just makes sense. I even went through the menus and picked out what I think I'd order, and totaled it all up with approximate tax, and the QS Dining plan actually saves me about $15 or so. It doesn't cover all my meals, so I'll make sure to use it for the more expensive ones (like Be Our Guest) and pay out-of-pocket for the cheaper ones. :cutie: Not mention that I can seeeriously make those snack credits stretch at the F&G Booths. Oh! And now I get to add to my resort mug collection, too! I need a full set! :goodvibes

The last thing to tell ya'll... I started packing today. (Don't judge me!) I use a list-making app on my phone, so I worked on that over the weekend, and then last night after work I pulled out my small "carry-on" suitcase and the tote bag I'm taking. I spread them out open across the bed in my guest bedroom, and then today started putting things in them I know I won't need during the next two weeks, and checking them off the list. Also figured out what clothes I'm taking and getting those washed up and tucked into the suitcase. I've got a ways to go yet, but it was exciting to get started!!! And it got me simultaneously cleaning the apartment, too. I have only a few days off between now at the trip (three, to be exact), so I figured... why not make the most of them? :bitelip:

Can it just hurry up and be time to go already? I'm so exciiiiited!

looks like things are turning out fine and dandy after all!!! I bet you're so glad you switched your dates! I think it's amazing you can get so much good foodie stuff with snack credits at F&G!! i really enjoyed having a QS dining plan ( ok even better when it's free) but awesome!!

It just keeps getting better and better!! So excited for you!

I think it's a great idea to just take Friday off - it will be nice to start off your trip well rested. And an extra hour at MK never hurt anyone!!

We've never done the dining plan but I'm glad the QS plan worked out for this trip! And it's perfect for your F&G treats!

Things are shaping up BEAUTIFULLY! This revised trip is going to be about a million times awesomer than the originally scheduled one. Like you said, everything happens for a reason! :goodvibes I've often taken the regular dining plan, but this will be my first time doing the Quick Service. I'm really happy it's an option, especially for a short trip like this one! :cutie:

It just keeps getting better and better!! So excited for you!
It really does! I'm a little nervous about what my obsessive planner brain will think of to improve upon next! :lmao:

I agree on both counts! I just hope that it works out so that I'm able to stick to the plan, and get to bed early... It's still more than 2 weeks away and I'm already suffering like this poor dude...

I'm a Dining Plan acolyte, I love it! This will be my first time doing the Quick Service plan, though. For my longer trips, I take the regular Dining Plan. (And someday, I'm going to do the Deluxe Dining Plan, and cross a bunch of those Signature dining locations off my bucket list!) I tell ya what, during Food & Wine on my last trip, those snack credits were such a blessing. I'll do my research ahead of time and figure out the most expensive items to use them on at F&G. :thumbsup2

Plans are made to be changed... well some of them

Taking Friday off is a great idea, personally I find that the day really drags when I have something I'm really looking forward to that evening. Love that you will be able to get so many yummy snacks at F&GF with your snack credits! And it's never too early to start packing... unless you ask my husband... he says I have to wait until 60 days out....... :faint::eek::confused:

so with saving on your QS you making up for the 34.00 on rental! WOOHOO! Great job!

I would start packing NOW if i could...

I love that you're taking off on Friday ... always nice to start the vacation early!

Even without having the numbers in front of me, it makes sense to me that the QS dining plan would save you money ... those snack credits will be very useful at the F&G booths!

I'm very happy to learn that I'm not the only one who makes lists of what to pack (although I do it on my computer, either in Word or Excel). Packing early is always nice ... I wish I could start packing for my next Disney trip! (Of course, that would require me to have a next trip planned ... check back with me in about 3 weeks, maybe I'll have something planned then)

Plans are made to be changed... well some of them
I'm always compulsively changing things as I think of ways to being stuff better. I never get it right the first time.

Pfft, so start packing covertly. Slip things in bags when he's not looking. Or makes stacks of things in the closet and just say you're "re-organizing" when in fact it's your stack of "To be packed" stuff! ::yes::

so with saving on your QS you making up for the 34.00 on rental! WOOHOO! Great job!
Heckkkkk YEAH! :thumbsup2

I would start packing NOW if i could...
I wouldn't judge you if you did! :D

Yes! I feel much better about this. I counted it up tonight... 11 more days of work! I can do this! :o

Even without having the numbers in front of me, it makes sense to me that the QS dining plan would save you money ... those snack credits will be very useful at the F&G booths!
Exaaactly! I'm really glad I decided to go for it, I think it'll work out really well! :-)

I'm very happy to learn that I'm not the only one who makes lists of what to pack (although I do it on my computer, either in Word or Excel). Packing early is always nice ...
Normally I do my list on paper, either hand-written or typed. But as I was packing for the last trip, I just got annoyed with trying to keep up with the paper and the pen I was using to cross things off of it as they went into the bag. And since I use my phone for EVERYTHING else, it's basically an extension of my palm, I thought I'd try it this way. It's actually been working out really well. I love that no matter where I am, if I think of something to add to the list, I can do so in an instant! :cutie:

I wish I could start packing for my next Disney trip! (Of course, that would require me to have a next trip planned ... check back with me in about 3 weeks, maybe I'll have something planned then)
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! Do you have something in the works, lady? Spill!!!

Oh yes, starting off the trip fully rested is a very smart idea indeed.
I thought so! Especially since I'm going to be going into extreme sleep debt over the crazy Disney weekend! :scared:

I've loved the quick service dining plan, and can never seem to use up all the credits, except when I used all my snacks at the Food and Wine Festival. But I'd love to try the regular dining plan once to try out some of the other restaurants
I'm a big fan of the regular dining plan, but I'm also a big fan of sitting down to a big meal. I go to Disney to EAT! :teeth:

I also have packing lists on my phone (always), and also pack weeks ahead of time - that way my clothes seem a bit "newer" because I haven't worn them for a while. So exciting, I'm wishing I was going back soon, but I'll try to be patient!
Yes, exactly! Also, I often will pick up a new tshirt or two just for the trip, and they go right in the bag. I want to wear them new for Disney! :cutie:
