Anyone else recovering from surgery? I just had surgery the other day, and am now at my parents house recovering. I also realized I can't take percocet as it caused my blood pressure to drop really low leading me to pass out on the floor. When I came to, my heart felt like it was about to pound out of my chest. I called my surgeon a few hours later, who told me to absolutely not take it anymore, and I should probably avoid any narcotics. I'm still nauseous, still dizzy and loopy. But at least my pulse isn't 160 bpm like it was before. It's still a bit high, but not as high as it was before. My surgeon told me if I wasn't doing any better, I would need to visit the ER. I think I'm doing better though. I'm pretty sure my pulse is slowed down, and as long as I don't roll over and lie flat on my back, then I won't black out again. Fun times, no?

 Blessings to you and I hope you are feeling better soon. I wil be having surgery Jan. 8, a wonderful 8 hours worth hopefully. I am going to the surgeon tomm. with dh. to discuss stuff one last time.

Prayers to you for a speedy recovery and a happy holiday season. Feel better. The dr. told me I will be hooked up to the morphine pump when I wake up. I told him, ol.k. on the pump but no morphine. If I could do 3 kids with no epidural, I hopefully can have something else.

Best wishes on your speedy recovery... DH is 6months months out of recovering from a 2 level fusion on his spine.. Yesterday he had a vascetomy done - no more kiddies for us.. but that is all good... now he is spending day to with frozen veggies as his new found friend....

I'll be joining you in three weeks when I'm recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery on my right now. I went to the doctor this morning to fill out the paperwork and get the pain meds, set up physical therapy and all that fun stuff.

Wishing you a quick recovery!

My husband goes in for surgery tomorrow. He had a motorcycle accident on May 28th of this year. Then he spent 12 hours in surgery while they put a rod in his femur and 4 plates and 27 screws in the lower leg.

Well, he's had infection after infection since Labor Day. So tomorrow, we go in for them to remove the hardware from his lower leg.

He'd finally got to the point where he could fumble along with one cane and now he goes back to non weight bearing again.

But hopefully this will stop the infections and enable him to heal completely.

That type of reaction to percocet does not necessarily mean you would react the same way to other narcotic pain relievers.. I can't take percocet either - nor can I take codiene (sp?) - but hydrocodone is no problem nor are several others in the narcotics class.. I'm surprised he didn't prescribe something not quite as strong..

Hope you feel better soon! Lousy time of year to be recovering from surgery - huh? :(

I guess he's just being cautious, I suppose. I was on the lowest dose of percocet possible, and had such a bad reaction. Still, I don't know if I would want to play "Lets see which narcotics monkey can take without a reaction" at this time. I actually feel pretty ok, all things considered. I can take off the pressure dressing I have on tomorrow and see the lovely scar.

I had a partial hysterectomy last Wed. One night in the foo foo catered hospital on some good drugs and being waited on and I am all good. :cheer2: Oh yeah, also 4 weeks off from work ain't so bad either. ;)
I have not taken so much as an aspirin since 20 hours after surgery. I am sorry things are not going well for you.
