Surf and Turf Disney Style…..30 days of food on land and at sea! 06/16 WPE

Karin, your LC dinner looked great. I think you are right about signature status there. I think they are still working out the kinks on this. When I think signature dining, it's a place with lots of room between tables and people who dress up just a little with servers who have just a little more comportment. Like you, i'll go at lunch, but have my evening meal somewhere else.

We enjoyed our dinner, but it just wasn't what I would call signature ..... I mean, you cannot compare it to Jiko, or Cali Grill, or even the Brown Derby, which I personally don't be to keen on either just doesn't feel right when the servers are better dressed than you. :rotfl2:
And I would not consider a restaurant where I cannot escape listening in on the people at the next table signature either. Sorry Le Cellier, you will have to work at that.
Foodwise it is definitely somewhere where we will happily return!

Your food at LC looks wonderful, but the who signature thing bugs me too...

Not knowing the history... have any other of the current signature restaurants once been non signature ones?

Karin - been trying to get caught up on all TR's that I'm reading since we got back last Monday from our WDW trip. It seems like I am so far behind.

Your dining reviews though have me wishing we were still down there. We ate at Yachtsman's last Sunday night. It was so very good. We love it there.

And your lunch at the Contempo Cafe looked really good. Even though we were staying at BLT we never actually ate there. However my daughter had the Turkey BLT and it was so yummy. In fact she got it twice while we were there she loved it that much.

Your steak from LeCellier looks so good. But, with the comments of the ambiance I hear and the fact that it is a signature restaurant now it has not made our list of must do places to eat. But I sure do like seeing the photos of the food!

Can't wait to see where you are dining next.

Have a great day!

Hi Karin

It sounds like you had a similar table to the one we had back in May

I hate it when tables are too closely packed together and we felt like were sitting in a corridor with all the servers flying past :sad2:

I'm glad that your entrees were good but unless things improve at LC I really think that a 1 credit lunch is a better option :thumbsup2

Just catching up :goodvibes
Mama Melrose.....we had the same problem during August. We waited almost one hour, the lighting was so low that you could not read the menu and they messed up the bill, which we had to get sorted back at OKW.
Yachtsman....we have had good and bad service here, but on both occasions the food has been good.
It's a pit about Le Cellier moving to 2 credits for the evening, since like yourself I cannot see what has improved to justify it and i feel we were rushed :sad2:
You have convinced me to try WPE breakfast when we visit again in August. :yay:

Your food at LC looks good, especially the desserts!

Oh no on the tables being too close together - I would probably only go to LC for lunch after reading all the dinner reviews.

We did LeCellier for lunch, it was our first time there. We were lucky enough to get a table along the side. We were not impressed, but that could have been due to not being hungry. It was too hot to have much of an appetite.

Our local Meijer store sells that pretzel bread. It is very good, just like Le Cellier's.

Hi Karin.....sorry I've been MIA, just getting caught back up with all the reports I follow!

I cannot believe you had a 3 hour meal at Mama Melrose! Sheesh.....glad the suit gave you that fastpass, I hope you used it at TSM. ;)

The view from your balcony was gorgeous, I would have eaten all my breakfasts out there!

Sorry Le Cellier didn't quite live up to the signature designation. I was skeptical that it would. I figured it was just another example of Disney capitalizing on the popularity of something in order to make more money (like the upcharge for the Arusha savannah view at AKL).

Hi Karin! I had gotten behind but I am now back up to speed.

I am embarassed to say that we stayed at POR last year and didn't even give a thought to eating at Boarwrights! Your food looks great so I think we should have added that!

We have the Fantasmic package booked for next week at MM. We have never been there before but our whole huge party (11 of us!) all loves Italian food. I still think this was a safe bet but I am worried about losing the park time waiting for our table and food. We only have one day planned at HS and no park hoppers.

The food was nice, but the close together tables and everyone in your face just doesn't say signature to me.
To be honest I have no idea about the restaurants history, but we will be back at Le Cellier for lunch, dinner ...... not in the near future. ;)

Tell me about getting caught up again. ;) :lmao: Even work throughs me off and I need to play catch up every other day.

This was our first visit to Yachtsman and we loved it, we will definitely be back. Contempo is an old favourite of ours and we will definitely be back in February.

As I said before, the food is still good at Le Cellier, but it just doesn't live up to the signature hype. Guess they will be busy for lunch from now on.

Le Cellier for lunch :thumbsup2 ...... using 2 credits for dinner again, I don't think so, there are other options were all signature components are right! ;)

Just catching up :goodvibes

We are used to waiting to get IN to MM, but waiting for the bill and the whole waiting game while eating were new to us. So not happy about it.

Yachtsman was a first and we were impressed! :thumbsup2

:woohoo: for convincing you to try WPE breakfast! Maybe we'll see you there in August! :goodvibes

Le Cellier for the food ..... :thumbsup2, the rest of the ambience is no signature, so until they rethink we will be lunch guests. :lmao:

I don't know what you had at Le Cellier, but usually the cheese soup and the chipotle sausage with sweet corn polenta are to die for! ;) ... and I have always had good luck with the mushroom filet ....... just wish they would use risotto rice.
We have REAL pretzel bread here, not the stuff they sell at WDW, I just wish you could try a real "pretzel" Pretzel! :lmao:

Abby, I so know about falling behind! ;)
MM was a LONG story literally  but at least we got that FP and we DID use it for TSM! :thumbsup2

We love the view at OKW and we have yet to hit one with NO view. I just love sitting out there just relaxing.

I am sure they thought about making LC a signature long and hard, but maybe they should have given the interior a little thought as well. As long as one guests nearly sits on the next one it does not say signature to me! ;)

I don't blame you for not thinking of eating at Boatwrights. For a few years all we did was having breakfast there (which they no longer offer :sad2:) and only during a Hurricane did we discover it as a dinner restaurant. We have always really enjoyed it.
As for MM ..... the food was pretty good, but we have always encountered a wait to be seated. I can live with that, but not a 3 hour meal ;) ....... just steer away from their so called "best server" and you should be good! :thumbsup2

Day 6, August 18

A few Disney snacks

That night we actually wanted to stay and watch Illuminations, but it was raining cats and dogs and we called it a day.
On the way back we stopped at the Beach Club Counter Service to spend a few of our Counter service credits.
There were two girls who celebrated a birthday on the cruise so we picked up two

large lollies.

I wanted to try the

IMG_0874.jpg

Mickey mints, which in the end were deamed very sweet. I am not a huge fan of milk chocolate in the first place and even though I finished those .. one at a time were more than enough.

And we picked up three

containers of Mickey Cheese Puffs. I tried those last year and they were quite nice to nibble while sipping a nice glass of white wine. ;)

But there is a little story to go along with those items and a little warning for those of you on the DDP.
We told the CM doing our bill, that we wanted to use our snack credits for it and she said she would it ring up that way. She then ran my KTTW card and handed me the bill. Now I am ALWAYS checking if the number of left over credits matches what I think it should be. This receipt did not state anything about credits at all, no, it had value of nearly 24$. We needed a manager to reverse the charge and use the DDP credits. So always check your receipts when using the DDP!! ;)

What we saved using the FREE Disney Dining Plan:
Total number of credits - 16 TS, 16 CS and 16 snacks
TS: Le Cellier: 124 $ (4 TS credits remain)
CS: Thyphoon Tilly's: 34,50 $ (6 CS credits remain)
Snacks: Beach Club : 24 $ (9 credits remain)

Total saved: 610,30 $

Next up - Breakfast at Denny's

Karin I had the Filet, but no risotto. I don't like mushrooms. The food was good, I just wasn't hungry.

I don't like cheese soup or sausage & it's also not something I'm allowed to eat anyway. I bet that your pretzel bread is so much better! I had lots of good bread when we went to Toronto. :cloud9:

We also ate at Le Cellier this Aug. We have eaten there before so when the bread basket came out I was so disappointed, I was so looking forward to the breadsticks...those and the cheddar cheese soup is why I really like it there. We also had the filet and everyone enjoyed it.

Karin...I just made reservations for WDW for Aug 17 - Sept. 3. Aren't you going to be there then, maybe we can get together!

Those Mickey cheese crackers look good....I could go for some right now!

Ooh, I like the look of the Mickey Chocolate Mints, I must get some of those

Thanks for the Hidden Mickey in the crackers :goodvibes

I remember the rain that night...WOW!!!! We made the best of it though. We were on our way from DHS to MK when it started. We ended up taking the monorail over to Poly to wait it out and get a bite to eat. I swore it would never end.
It did let up and we fianlly made our way over.

This is how attractive one looks while walking around MK after a big rain

I tend to check receipts too. We had a mishap of sorts once too. Of course it happened when I sent ds to use a snack credit... he was getting one snack for himself and they deducted two. I immediately went back and with the help of the manager, he made it right...but yes! Check those receipts! If I had not, we would have lost one of our precious snack credits and not realized where it had happened. :goodvibes

Yummy snacks! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you checked your receipt and were able to pay with snack credits in the end.
