Hello- All Disney experts,
I have small question, we are planning to take our fifth dw vacation in Aug 09
and currently staying at CS. We have stayed outside and inside disney resorts which has even included staying at shade of green resort. And our original plan was to stay at GF due to the great discounts they currently have. But after we look at our budget, my wife (who I believe is the biggest dw fan in the world) and I decided to change our plans to a moderate resort. I know deep in her heart she would like to stay at deluxe resort but she is always the practical thinker in our family. And has always put our family first then herself. So my delimenia is should I change our resort to one of the least expensive deluxe resorts like is WL,AK or BC since my queen needs pampering also Or should I just stay the course and keep what we have at CS since my wife has put a lot time in planning our trip. Any advise will be much appreciated. -Please forget give me if my thread is not the norm, this is my first time doing this, usually this is my wife's cup of tea.

Good for you for asking the question!

It sounds like, IMO, you would be dishonoring her hard work by changing a resort without discussing it with her. Have you talked to her about the real differences about staying at CS and GF? I know that GF is gorgeous and the "highest level" of the WDW resorts, but I like the many things that CS provides. (I've never stayed there, but we resort hop when we go to WDW).

Have you looked at renting DVC points for one of the Deluxe resort DVC Villas? That may prove to be more equal in cost than paying for GF.

Is she doing a package or paying by the individual item? (room only, then park tix, etc). That will affect it as well. Since you go fairly often, you may think about buying non-expiring passes and doing room only (or DVC rent).

Again, it just depends on what is already set-up, your budget and your communication with her. I personally used to get very upset if my husband spent what I consider a lavish amount of money on something unnecessary. He has learned and I have learned; there is a middle ground there.

I agree with the PP - I know that I would be furious if my H ever went behind my back to reverse a decision I made. I figure I'm big enough to make my own choices!

If you want to pamper her, why not keep CSR, and book her a massage or some other spa package at the CSR spa? (CSR is the only moderate that has one.) Or, book a really nice restaurant - perhaps Victoria & Albert? A dinner there would be less than the differential in rooms.

It's nice that you're thinking about your wife's comfort, but if you're really partners, you shouldn't override her. Think of other ways to pamper her and enjoy your vacation!
