been in kitchen for last 2 1/2 hours making home made ketsup, fried taters fried green tomatoes, fried yellow squash, fresh tomatoe salad/relish pork chops fried in butter with onions and garlic, cheeted on the rolls they getting heat and eat tonight:) ( i boughht 25 gallons of fresh tomatoes yesterday and intend to make home made sauces this week,, mostly bbq sauce :) thing is after all the cooking i am too tired to eat now:) ( notto mentiuon i am nearly full from snacking:)) does anyone else do this? snack while cooking and then not want to eat?

YES! I havent been cooking lately at all...but when I do, I am sooo not hungry from picking at the food while I was preparing it.

My mom is famous for it. People never see her eat because she is sneaking in the kitchen;)

Yup, I do that. The thing that makes me not want to eat as much is if I am the one who cooks the meal. Sounds like you went way beyond what most people would do-homemade ketsup-never tried making it before.

lol made ketsup mainly due to the five or six over ripe gota eat em tomatoes that were in the batch,, i bought 25 gallons of fresh tomatoes yesterasdy at a local packing house,, and 5 gallons of bell peppers,, i'll be s eriously cooking tomatoies the next few days,,lol

With all that tomatoes and green peppers, it sounds like someone in your house may be making some pizzas and marinara sauce.

seriously by thursday those tomatos and peppers will be for the most part homemade bbq sauce,, i seldom get a chance to make sauce from scratch anymore, this week the timing, the tomatoes and the work schedual all came together:) i should be in there blanching the skins off now but i am realy tired:) i went and worked with dw the last week, first time in months i went out every day and stayed most of the day on job sites, and now t his week we are going to make and bottle sauces:)

Oh what I wouldn't do for a jar of Homemade Froggy Sauce.:teeth:

hmmmm wonders if that was gg's way of volenteering to come peel and chop and dice :) just realized i goingto have to work on sauces during evenings,, we have a job in morning to go do,, then tuesday Son in law will be in from iraq and we have to pick him up at airport, also have pool care class tuesday am,, have to take sample of water from pool to store and let them teach us how to check, test, and treat the pool:) really dont need a 25 ft round gren pond..lol

sooo i would probably trade sauce for help peeling etc..lol

Yep, I do that too, snack while making dinner. But then, the cook HAS to taste test! Froggy, your dinner sounds so good! I love fried potatoes, fried green tomatoes, and fried squash, and can't tell you the last time I've had any of those. I think I'll be hitting the vegetable stand tomorrow!

I have a roast in the crockpot... it probably won't be done for another 3 hours. Smells so good in here....

Although your meal sounds pretty good :) too

lol tell ya what,, if i have any left over after the 4th,, ( just found out i am sposed to bbq again next weekend and host pool party ),, hope we get the lighting installed on the deck and it stops raining:) i'll possibly try and send ya one:) warning my sauce causes sleep.. ( goes beyond drowsy) and is deadly to diabetics,,lol its a very sweet sauce:)

Froggy,
Have you tried freezing the tomatoes? I usually just pop them in the freezer whole, for a few days (or longer when the Jersey tomatoes are in). They come out like baseballs, but just let them sit for an hour or so, and the skins slip right off. No blanching. I used to do that, then someone told me to freeze them. I usually make sauce in the summer, so when they defrost completely, they are usually pretty mushy, and just throw them in a pot and make sauce.
Good luck.
