With today's special effects, a new Superman movie should be visually awesome. If the voiceover in the trailer (from what I understand, it's some Marlon Brando outtake repurposed from the first Christopher Reeve movie) is any indication of the theme and story, that should be great as well.

And the fact that Bryan Singer, who did a great job on the two X-Men movies, is directing is icing on the cake.

From what I have read, the whole story is a continuation of the first two movies.

As for the footage, most of the first two movies were shot at one time by Richard Donner, with much of that footgae never making into the first or second films. Much of the lost Brando footage is rumored to be in this new movie. There are also rumors that we will see a new cut of Superman II on DVD around the release of the new movie on DVD. A newset similar to the recent set of Batman special edition DVD's.
