Oh Good Grief! :(

The atmosphere as of Sunday morning holds potential for the development of a powerful storm off the Atlantic Seaboard of the United States early next week. While this would be true to some extent without the existence of Hurricane Wilma and the newly-dubbed Tropical Storm Alpha, which represent a great reservoir of tropical warmth and moisture, it only ratchets up the potential. Two players here are key. First, a sharply dipping jet stream will be thrusting southward from central Canada and tapping a cold pool to spin up low pressure south of the Great Lakes Sunday and Monday. The other player, none other than Hurricane Wilma, will pull away from Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula in time for a crossing of the Florida Peninsula Monday. It is Monday night and Tuesday when things could get crazy in the meteorological sense. The strong northeast-trending jet stream will scoop up Wilma, with possible contribution from Alpha, as the low shifts from the Appalachians to the coast. If Wilma were to follow the western edges of its forecast window and begin to draw in the cool low from the west, an explosive deepening could result, culminating in a deep and fully merged storm raging south of Nova Scotia Wednesday. While this is not the most likely scenario, it is one that is in the realm of possibility.

This is what could happen Monday night and Tuesday if our Worst Case Scenario came to pass. Heavy, driving rains and gales would pound the Seaboard from North Carolina to southern New England. As the rains spread northwards and the storm tapped the cold pole from the west, rain would turn to heavy wet snow over the inland Northeast. Keep checking back with us at AccuWeather.com Weather Headlines to see what the latest is on this interesting, even serious, weather situation.

Hey, that would make a great movie! We could call it "The Day After Tommorrow", or something like that............ :cool1:

Sounds like The Perfect Storm movie. I am soooooo sick of this weather here.

Do any of you watch "Southpark"? This weeks new episode was priceless...It was called "TWO DAYS BEFORE THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW"...:rotfl2:

And seriously, yes I did see that and I am hoping it doesn't become a reality.

Gee I wouldn't mind the worst case scenario. It'd be great to start fall off with snow, and I wouldn't mind if the kid down the hall from Colorado stopped complaining about global warming because he thinks that that's why NH doesn't usually get snow before Halloween  But I can assure you, this whole thing won't be the worst case scenario. My boots and winter coat are both here at school, so we probably won't see any snow for a long time. Had I left them at home, and chosen to continue walking through ankle deep puddles in my sneakers, and enjoying the 30 degree night air during a fire alarm in just a fleece jacket, then we'd see the worst case scenario.

I planned on staying here at the lake until next Sunday, but the weather has me considering an earlier departure.. Today we're supposed to have some wet snow mixed in with the rain.. I'm going out to the store today and will decide tomorrow if I should pack up and leave..

I don't wanna go home!!!!!!!!!!!! sob..choke..sniffle.. :(

That rain snow line has changed significantly putting us into the rain area. National Weather Service has already put out a bulletin about it, saying that if the track is bad, we could get another 2-4 inches of rain on ground that can't hardly handle sprinkles right now :guilty:

When I was little, we always planned our hallowe'en costumes to go over our snowsuits!

I trick or treated in the snow 5 or 6 years ago, and we've had snow on Halloween (or at least the day for trick or treating) a couple times since.

Ick. Yuck. Bleck.

It's bad enough worrying about hurricanes _and_ blizzards, but at the same time?

M.

My FIL has latched onto this possibility and God help us! Doesn't the man both his weather AND his doom and gloom prophecies! LOL :rotfl2:
