In case people traveling to the DLR are planning to go to Universal.
Good chance this new experience will be open when you go.

I wouldn't say this at all. They are doing random technical rehearsals. There is no way to know when they will open up the land, nor for how long.
From recent USH sneak preview rehearsals, Potter and Pets, the previews happen more often than they do not.
The days I wouldn't expect it to be open is on private event days.

Makes you wonder why we even bothered making Annual Pass reservations for the 29th.
It's really hit or miss with the soft opening/tech previews-rehearsals, so the AP reservation is more of a guarantee you'll get to go in.

Harry Potter area was same way for a few weeks prior to AP days and actual opening. Sure you might get to go in land but would close or reopen at random points throughout the day since it's basically testing and getting employees used to guests before crazy opening date.

I'm sure they still get complaints from guests who heard online land is open only to show up and it's closed.

I think this is in the wrong board. This should probably be on the one that's California and the West.

3 days in a row has been open even during the Saturday storm.
Have not missed a day since beginning Tech Rehearsals (knock on wood).

Reason I posted here is because very few go to the California forum and quite a few people visit both DLR and Universal during their visit to California.

I need to do some more research on SNW. I struggled with the motion sense rides (shocking to me since I have never had issues before for anything!). I'm curious if the rides in the new area will be motion sense. Wanting to go back for a day if we visit Santa Monica because we enjoyed everything else.

My son rode the Mario Kart ride yesterday and said it was no biggie for motion sickness. He said it was similar to Toy Story Mania.

I was so appreciative that you posted here. I sent a screenshot to my son and said get over to Universal quickly. He was able to see SNW because of it. So, thank you!

I didn't because Universal is known to preview things weeks in advance. Even before the private events.
So true. We were able to ride Transformers at Universal Orlando a month before the scheduled opening. We were literally just walking by and they said “hey you want to ride?” We were one of the first groups to ride it… ever! That’s our claim to fame, lol.

My thoughts after visiting today.
The SNW is beautiful and any video game especially Nintendo fan will love it.
Other will definitely appreciate some of the details, but not understand what they represent.

The interactive areas are fun. To me it is the best part of this area. Universal will make a killing off of those power bands. Just be careful as the magnet on my strap kept loosening.

The food was good to great as well. Only shared the bacon mushroom burger, the spaghetti and meat balls, and the matcha bean pole cake.
All good and the best thing they have to offer on the lower lot.

Mario Kart
LOVE the queue, but the ride itself is chaotic and for first time riders they are going to have a hard time understanding what needs to be done.

It feels like Universal Creative wanted to see if this technology can be done without thinking if it should be done.

I believe somewhere in there is a good ride, but I came away disappointed as I think most people will during their first go on it. I would not be surprised if this attraction is updated in a few years.
