That is one thing that makes it nice to visit the local fruit stands. Nothing is bagged up and I can pick out just exactly what I want. I am glad we live in a valley that has them.
You're really lucky. I love having farmer's markets here in the summer, but because I live in the city the cost is equal or more than the cost of crappy produce in the grocery stores. In my ideal life, I'd live in SoCal or somewhere that has fresh local produce year round. I hate not eating tomatoes all winter and spring, or only eating tomatoes from an aseptic carton.
I think I need to make those fried yellow heirloom tomatoes again soon, before they are unavailable in my area!!
