I suprised the kids today with a trip to WDW on Wednesday. I don't mind driving and we have APs so I decided after I got back from DISCON that I would like to take the kids to WDW after Christmas. I have the luxury of having two weeks off since I'm a teacher and I had a few rewards saved up that made it possible to take this spur of the moment trip.

Here's the details:
Cast- myself, DD 10 and DS 7.
January 1-5
Preliminary costs (I will update these when I get back with my actual cost)

Gas - $80 (this is what it cost us this summer)
Priceline hotel (Whyndam Orlando) first night - $40 includes fee
and tax.
All Star Sports - AP discount $55/ night, 3 night total $165
Food - $30/day for counter service, 3 day total $90
groceries for breakfast, snacks, and picnic lunch for trip
down - $20

Rewards:
$95 from Ford (test drive and an online survey) this goes
towards hotel.
$10 gas card (mypoints) left over from summer trip.
$10 from pinecone surveys.

This is just from the last month and there wasn't enough time to cash out again at mypoints as they seem to be slow paying right now.

The gas and food budget are based on what we have spent in the past. Gas is higher now so I expect to be a little over my budget there. We are doing counter service lunch and dinner and we usually spend $12-15 for these meals so that gave me $30/day. Souvineers are not budgeted because it will depend on what we decide to spend. I bought a lot for myself at DISCON so I won't spend a lot.

We'll see how we do when we get back!

Wow!! How great are those figures. I wish my could be as good. We are going all out this trip. This is our first trip with our girls (10, 6, 1.5). We are staying at the WL. I do plan to do breakfast in our room, eat lunch at counter service and do dinner outside the park at night. We live in WV, so I'll be interested in seeing your final gas total when you return as it will give me some indication of what we can expect. Have fun!!!

40 more days until we see WL for the first time!!!

We got back late last night and I have a snow day today so I was able to get my figures together. I will post a more detailed trip report later, focusing on my budget for now.

Gas - actually spent $114 - $10 gift card, for a total of $104 round
trip (2000 miles). Gas was expensive everywhere and I didn't
find any real bargains. The range was from $1.29 - 1.65/
gallon for regular.

Hotel - $70 remaining balance for ASSP and $4.95 resort fee at
Wyndham that they wouldn't waive.

Food - This budgeted out to $30/day over the five days (two
travel days and three park days).
Day 1 - picnic lunch and $8 Arby's
Day 2 - Pecos Bills $13, Pizza ASSp $15, Milk $4, Ice
Cream $7.50 ($39.50)
Day 3 - Le Cellier $30 (with AP discount and tip)
Beaver tail $3 Left Over Pizza for dinner. ($33)
Day 4 - Tusker House Meal deal $25 (2 kids and one
adult), Pretzel $3 ($28)
Day 5 - Breakfast ASSp food court (cinnamon rolls and
milk) $7, Dairy Queen lunch $11, Subway dinner
$11 ($29)

This works out to about $30 a day. We have a huge meal once during the day and like to snack the rest of the day on park days. We also had snacks we brought with us. I wasn't planning on a sit down meal but it was cold and we love Le Cellier. On our larger trips we usually take lunch meat and other things to eat and have lunch a few days at the pool.

We did spend $50 on souvineers. Bought a couple of pins, a cd and the kids each found a couple of little inexpensive things they had been wanting.

We stayed pretty close within our budget!

That's wonderful!! Those are great totals. Gas was more than I was anticipating, but hey, that's how it goes. We only have 33 more days to go until we leave for the world. After looking at many of the menus for various restaurants, besides lunches, I think we are going to eat away from Disney for the other meals. I hope this saves some money. Glad you are home safe and hope you had a great time!!
