Super Bowl? What Super Bowl? We are going to Disney 1/31-2/7/09 - Updated 2/11

I'm enjoying your report! My family was at POP the Jan 31-7 in the 80's section. I was a little disappointed in the weather, but it beats the summer heat!

First of all you have absolutely gorgeous girls..and I love the family portraits. My DW and I might think about doing that and give them as Christmas gifts this year. It's sad that we haven't taken a formal picture together since our wedding five years ago.

I'm on board by the way :) Can't wait for more.

We were there the same time and oh wow - I was a little more than disappointed with the weather! Especially considering what it had been the week before and what it will be this coming week!

I want a do over!!!!

Really though, I was not prepared for the weather at all. Or the crowds. We don't go in the summer but the crowds this time were awful compared to the last two times we went in Sept. and November.

We had our 14 month old (first trip) with us and really slowed it down. I don't think we got to see even half as much as usual but it was nice to slow down for a change.

Glad you had a nice trip! Those pics at the Poly are great! Beautiful family!

My DH and I were there last week too! We were bummed about the weather, but we didn't experience crowds like you did. We actually thought it was pretty dead, but we were not at the same parks on the same days.

We were there from Feb 2-6 and the weather was not pleasant. I will say that I didn't think that it was very crowded...and I go in June/July every year. It was great having a 5 minute wait for Nemo and just walking on Peter Pan etc. Dumbo was the only ride we had to really wait for and that was 15 minutes at the most. It was great vaca...too bad it was SOOO cold...my poor kids couldn't even go swimming. At one point I even saw steam coming off the pool! ha ha

Oh...and the Family Suites at the Music ROCK!

Glad you made it home safely. Wonderful pictures and great update. I can't wait to read more.

HI!!

WOW you have gorgeous girls!! So pretty God bless them!

Your POLY shoot is amazing. You have great pictures and you also took awesome pictures in the MK!!

How cool you got to see the Superbowl champs parade!!!!
Thanks for the comments. I wouldn't say we actually saw the parade! We didn't line up for it or anything. We just happened to be in the town square when it passed by. :)

The weather definetly wasn't as cold as St. Louis, but it could have been just a tad bit warmer!

Thanks for reading my trip report. You should definetly do a family portrait! My husband thinks we do too many!

The crowds were definetly more than I expected. This trip was definetly slower for us too. We got a lot done, but not everything I wanted. I guess we will have to go again soon! :cool1:

My husband thought the parks were dead, but I disagree with him. Definetly not as busy as summer. I guess everyone wanted $200 giftcards!

We didn't go swimming either, but I we did see a couple of people in the pools! Crazy!

Hoping you post more pictures soon :)
More pics coming up!

On with the trip report!

So Monday was considered our "free day". The Bippity Boppity Boutique appointment at 11:30 am went really well. We got in with no wait and our Fairy Godmother in training was really sweet. We did the Crown package. I bought their princess dresses 50% off at Disney Shopping after Halloween. The dresses were way nicer than I expected. She spent awhile on DD Haley's hair, because she had a problem getting the top smooth. But she was persistent and finally got it done. We did the Disney Diva hairstyle. I let DD Haley pick out her hair, and of course she picked pink. I was leaning towards a more natural color like brown or blond. Oh well! She liked it. I also paid extra for the little crown. The Disney Diva hairstyle comes with two diamond mickey barrettes. She really liked getting her nails and make-up done. She wanted me to put the make-up on her every morning after that! We took the pink hair out Monday night and put it back in Tuesday morning. It looked OK the next day, but it definetly would not have lasted a third day, so we washed everthing out Tuesday night. I definelty enjoyed the BBB experience for Haley and can't wait to do it for DD Abby! I wasn't sure if I was supposed to tip the Fairy Godmothers. I asked the assistant if they got tips and she said yes. We gave the CM who did Haley's hair $10 and the CM who did her nails and make-up $5. I hope that was enough. They did a great job. I took tons of pics, so here are a few. I did pre-buy the photopass CD, but have not even started entering my codes on the webpage. I will post the photopass pics later on.

We then had a 1:25 pm lunch reservation at Cinderell'as Royal Table. The place was definelty crowded. There was a long line for the picture with Cinderella. Our name was called before we got the pic done, but they told us to keep waiting in line. Even though DD Abby was under 3 and we were not paying for her, they still gave her a magic wand and wishing star. I was very happy about that, because if they didn't give her a wand, I was going to ask to buy one. I don't remember the exact name of the dish we got, but it was like a sheperds pie type thing. It was really good!! It was probably the best dish we had all week!

It started raining after the Super Bowl parade and continued raining all day. It never really stopped! We still stuck it out and got some rides done. We left around 6:00 pm and went back to the resort. We ate dinner at the Riverside Grill and called it an early night!

OMG! Your girls are precious! Your DD at BBB is too cute. I also love the family pics at the Poly. Can I ask where you called to book that?

We were there the same week as you. I totally agree with the weather thing. I went to escape winter, not join it. Oh well. We found the crowds on Saturday (1/31) were bad, Sunday not too bad and Sunday night was awesome (went to MK for magic hours, hardly a soul to be seen). We didn't run into any crowds again until Friday (2/6). Maybe it was the parks we were in. :confused3 We did try to follow touringplans tips. I didn't go to the MK on Monday (went to DHS). We hardly waited in any lines. We are planning another trip next year for the same time.

Looks like you all had a fun trip. I know we did despite the weather. :thumbsup2

What Holly failed to mention is that after her wonderful lunch at the castle, Donald and I met up with her in Fantasyland. We hadn't really planned on an exact time so Donald and I were walking around Fantasyland and I was getting ready to call Holly's cell. Well this lady with really long curly hair and a butt that looked just like mine ran by and I was like "Donald, wasn't that Holly?" I yelled Holly and she glanced over her shoulder but kept on running. Apparently she melts in the rain and she was running for cover.

So we managed to meet up by accident and had a fun couple of hours riding rides until we all got tired of the steady rain. I was very happy to see Haley in her beautiful dress before mean mom made her change ;-) Haley loves her Aunt Jenny very much so she insisted on riding with me on Small World and some other rides. It is so much fun riding with Haley because she likes to narrate all the rides, so cute.

Did Holly mention she also got Haley addicted to pin trading? Much to Holly's dismay, Haley loves cutie pins (cuties are really small pins that aren't really worth much unless you are three-years-old and then they are like worth gold). I think she developed better taste by the end of the trip.

My favorite ride is the Haunted Manison so I was very happy to have Haley share a doom buggy with me and Donald. She was very cute and wasn't really scared at all, probably because I had my arm around her the whole time.

We enjoyed meeting up with Holly's familly. I just wish the weather would have been a little nicer but the rain just put a damper on things. We parted ways after a couple of hours. Donald and I ended up going to Downtown Disney for the rest of the night.

I just wanted to post because I am really enjoying lurking through your report. Your girls are gorgeous.

I never post (well, hardly ever) but I wanted to make sure you knew what a nice report this is and we want every detail!

The main phone number to book the resort photo session is 1-407-824-1700. Then they will transfer you to the resort you want. You can book them 30 days in advance. I know you can have them done at Saratoga Springs, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge. I think you can also have it done at Beach Club, but I am not for sure. I know they keep adding the resorts.

We were at Sunday night MK evening hours also! Maybe we passed you by! I think we are going to do our next trip either next April or May. I would like to go during the International Flower and Garden Festival and try to miss all the spring breaks! :)

Maybe you should try your own trip report instead of piggy backing on mine! :rotfl: And I still can't believe you saw me running by and realized it was me from behind! That is so weird. I guess it is my long hair. It is kind of distinctive.

Thanks for reading my trip report! Keep on posting. I barley post either. I have been a member of this board for three years and have less than 200 posts! I am slowly getting my numbers up. :) No tags either. Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to get a tag under my name. :worship:

Hi there
Thanks for such a great report. Can you explain the photoshoot a little more? Did you prebuy the photpass and that is where you found out about the $25 code? This is something that we haven't done before and really want to do. I am hoping to get a "christmas card" photo while we are at the poly.

Nah, I will just keep piggybacking off of yours. I don't have time to write a report now that my boss actually expects me to work instead of browsing the internet all day. :surfweb: Plus as much as I loved my last vacation, I don't feel like this trip was much different then my September trip, besides our freebie game...which I will update...eventually...soon.

I have been a member for many months longer than you and I have 75 posts total! Lurkers rule.....and I don't even know how to get a tag!
