Sunwing from Toronto Great price

It annoys me that Sunwing says their flights are so low and then their taxes and fees raise it so much. If you have an AC or Westjet flight at that same price, their fees aren't as high as Sunwing's fees.

When I booked our price for flights were $29 and $30 plus taxes...Saves the hassle of having to fly out of buffalo

I wish Sunwing would fly out on the dates that we are heading down in October. We checked it out and the only dates they give us our Sundays. We leave on Thursday and come back the following Saturday.

Where are you flying from? As soon as you get in a plane that departs Canada and lands in the US, it is a MINIMUM of $200 in taxes (it's not the airlines, it's really a TAX)

Not necessarily. Here's an AC flight on Sept 21-Sept 28 Toronto to Orlando: taxes and fees work out to be $128 for the return flight

The only thing that should vary here is the gst/hst since it is a percentage of the flight price. That's why Sunwing's crazy high taxes/fees really annoy me.

and although sunwing flight are usually a good deal...a 6:30 am departure out of YYZ means a very early morning espcially if you 45 min out of YYZ as I am...back in January I took this flight and the early start coupled with the excitment and not sleeping the night before threw me off for the week sleep wise.

This year for our honeymoon in Sept we booked southwest out of buffalo and came to a total of 398 roundtrip, non-stop for two adults - beat that Air Canada!! (I think I paid somthing like a total of 42$ in taxes)

Can't say enough about flying out of Buffalo. Not sure why some people think it's a hassle. for me it's an extra hour and a half and we save a ton. Stay the night before, eat at the olive garden or Cheesecake factory, get up a couple hours before an early flight at most and off to the races.

Last flight was out of Toronto but we could have saved $500 flying out of Buffalo and our flight was $89 return. $218 in tax each though. Only reason for going out of Toronto was we had a 2 year old and thought it would be a hard car ride. Car ride was great, flight not so great. Little animal wouldn't sleep either way there and back, and had a panic attack or two each way. Fun times. He is banned for two years from flying. hahahah

Just to do a comparison out of Buffalo you can get nonstop flights for the same dates with Southwest for $69.00 or $159.40 including taxes. Note that taxes and fees are a whopping $21.40. If you are flying with a family of 5 it is a no brainer that I always fly out of the US. The taxes and extra fees from Canada are ridiculous!

Flight Details (Nonstop) Sep 21
#133 Depart Buffalo, NY (BUF) 3:45PM
Arrive in Orlando, FL (MCO) 6:20PM

Flight Details (Nonstop) Sep 28
#158 Depart Orlando, FL (MCO) 8:10AM
Arrive in Buffalo, NY (BUF) 10:45AM

Total $138.00 + taxes $21.40 = $159.40

We are flying October 3-17th when I was looking last week the cheapest with Southwest was 99 each way, yes it is cheaper but I do like the convenience of flying from Pearson. I am an hour north of Toronto and this way someone will drive us to the airport and pick us up saving the money to leave the car, or no hotel expence in Buffalo. I guess it just depends on how you look at your time and money.

FYI I am a large girl and sunwing sold me an extra seat for $29 each way no tax. I just couldn't pass that deal up. Southwest charges full fare.
