I'm looking for a good suntan lotion that doesn't sting. I've tried most of the ones by Coppertone, Banana Boat, etc. Even the ones marked for kids, babies, sensitive skin, or face do not work on myslef or my kids. Has anyone tried Clinique, or maybe something from a health food store (all natural ingredients)? We leave for FL on Sunday and looking forward to plenty of pool time. I'm not looking forward to crying kids cause their faces hurt so please help!! :sunny:

TIA!

Bullfrog for kids...it's a gel-like product with a great watermelon smell. And it's SPF stays fresh even after an hour in the water.

Nothing but Bullfrog in this house. DS has VERY sensitive skin, and it has never bothered him.

Tried it! Still have some left! The kids did love the smell too. It stung after we reapplied it. That's when we usually have the problem -- not the original application. It is soooooo frustrating! We all have rather fair skin too and the kids, especially dd, burns easily.

Anyone have any idea what might make it sting? I thoght maybe it was the chlorine but washing their faces first didn't help.

I usually wind up resorting to plain zinx-oxide. The kids look really cute with that smeared all over but it's better than nothing!

Thanks for your responses!

How about one of those solid 'stick' types of sunscreen? I always toss one in DS's backpack during the summer.

You may be onto something with the reaction. I wonder if the sunscreen is reacting with the chlorine and that is what's stinging?

Ugh--I feel for you. Back in my lifeguarding days, I was known for myHOT PINK ZInc Oxide.

Interesting you should ask..... DS always got a stinging reaction when I used the "No-Ad' sunscreens from Walmart. I bought a Coppertone for sensitive skin and it seems to be better. But I always thought that this was just my son.... didn't realize that other people have the same problem! Sorry I can't help......P

We've had good success with the Neutrogena line - and they have one that sand doesn't stick too!

Very sensitive skinned redhead here. I use Suntanicals by Banana Boat but I see you've tried that. I've never had a "stinging" reaction after applying lotion. Have you tried talking to a Dermatologist? I can't imagine what I'd do if I couldn't put on sunblock! Probably have to wear long sleeves....yikes!

Hope you find an answer to your problem.
