This is a question for those who have done both the Sunrise Safari and the Wanyama (Sunset) Safari at the AKL Concierge.

If you had never been on either safari and could only choose one, which one would you choose?

One other question for those who have been on the Wanyama Safari -- we have the option of doing a buyout tour -- basically we buy out the entire vehicle for the entirity of the trip -- in which case we would be able to bring our 4-year old. My question is, I understand that the vehicle's top pops up so you can see out the top -- would a 4-year old even be tall enough to access this view?? If not, would she still have an okay view, just sitting in the regular seats?

Sorry can't answer as I am going on our first sunrise in March- and never considered the evening one as I have 2 kids (5 and 18mths) but how cool to have a buyout option (gosh gotta be $$$) - sounds like fun

It really depends on what kind of experience you're looking for.

For the sunset safari, you will be required to meet your guide at the lobby around 6:30AM. You will be bussed to Animal Kingdom where you will board the Kilimanjaro Safari ride with an animal expert. Now, this is not the typical KS ride - you go very slow and take time to observe each one of the animals. Typically, the animals are very active in the early morning. Following your safari, you will be taken to Tusker House for a special buffet breakfast.

For the sunset safari, you meet in the late afternoon at the Lodge with your guide. You board a vehicle and take a slow, close look at all of the animals on the AKL savanna. You will also have an animal expert on board. Yes, there is a hydraulic popup top for better viewing of the animals. After your safari, you will be taken to Jiko for a very nice sit down dinner.

If I had to choose between the two, I would choose the Sunset safari. It is more expensive because of the Jiko meal but it really is worth it.
