Sunrise Safari now available to DVC Members staying at AKV!

Bring out your “wild” side and venture off the beaten path with the Sunrise Safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Previously only open to Kilimanjaro Club Level Guests, Disney Vacation Club Members staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge now have the opportunity to book this two-hour tour.

Featuring a 45-minute safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Guests will have the opportunity to learn more in-depth about animal care, the grounds and operation at the Park and enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet at the Pizzafari restaurant. (Theme Park Admission is required but not included.)

Offered Sundays and Thursdays, you can now book reservations for tours beginning April 20, 2014 through August 2014 by calling Member Services at (407) 566-3800 or by visiting the Kilimanjaro Club Concierge. It was one of the reasons members would book Concierge Level at AKV. With AKV Concierge Level consisting of only 5 2-bedroom lock-offs, it can be very difficult to get when not booking right at 11 months.

I am so excited. I called and booked this. I have always wanted to do this for my May visit.

I do have Concierge booked for the first time in January but can't do it then due to a race on Sunday.

I have done it as a DVC CL guest, I am thinking this is going to be a right at 180 day must book reservation if they continue it beyond August. Wonder if CL Guests will get priority?

I will definitely do this again if it is available. Maybe it will make CL rooms a touch easier to get.

Since sunrise is normally restricted, I would do it and cross it off your bucket list. Unknown if it will be offered to non-club level in the future.

The Sunrise Safari would have the same restrictions (if any) as the Kilimanjaro Safaris at DAK.

YAY!!!! I was thinking it was time to once more try for CC level so we could do SS again, but this is great if it's a perk that continues through our next AKV trip in December! Unfortunately, it looks like this is another one of those "limited time" offerings. DANG!

Whoo-hoo! We are booked for the 5/1 Tour!

FWIW, we did the Wanyama Safari a few years back. It was excellent! Loved bouncing around the resort grounds in the truck and being able to stand/move about for viewing and photo ops. The family style dinner at Jiko's shared with the other Safari guests was delightful.

I hope they extend it. I went on it a couple of years ago and really loved it. My DH wants to go sometime but we do not own at AKV so its most likely we will have to cough up the cash for concierge. But if they extend - we have a Nov trip planned

As for ages of kids I am not sure. But for little ones it depends on the child. My 5 yr old was with me and he was bored and squirmy. While he liked seeing the animals, all the talking got to him. I know other 5 yr olds who would have been fine.

I just did an online chat with "Timothy" at DVC and he said this will be an ongoing thing and will not end. You can book at 180 days.

Granted we won't know for sure until it does, but hey it gives me hope for November
