Sunpass problem

On Saturday after picking up car rental at MCO airport I immediately went to a nearby grocery store to buy Sun Pass.

They did not have the one with suction cups that can be removed but only sticker. So I bought the sticker and activated it in the parking lot. Got email saying it was activated.

a few minutes later we drove through two tolls before getting to our hotel. It appears the two tolls made it to my account.

I called Sunpass today and was informed it could take up to 24 hrs for the tag to start working. I went through a toll yesterday and that worked.

I was under impression that the pass would work immediately after activated.

so what happens no? Will the car rental send me a bill for the two tolls? I am starting to feel I should have just used the car rental toll tag instead of the hassle I am going through.

No worrys... IF you get a toll violation , just call and sunpass will take it off. the system is set up to look through the data base for your tag info and see it in the system .

Are you saying the rental agency may charge an outrageous fee to fix "damage" to the windshield AKA fee to fully remove the sticker?

It should be easy to at least scrape off enough of the sticker so toll scanners won't be able to register the sticker and bill your account.

Most of the MCO car rental companies have the Sunpass available directly through them. If you visit Orlando frequent its best to just buy your own transponder that you can carry with you. You can request one online now that you have an account.

I bought goo gone and a razor to remove it. The lady at the grocery store told me it would be easier with goo gone.

I finally ordered the suction cup version and will bring it with us from now on when we fly. It has my car registered on it and we just add the rental car to the account. The sticker versions are a pain.

That was smart. I will do that in the future and get one before our trip.
