I am in a wedding on Saturday. I went out today and bought some sunless tanning wipes. I used the wipe about 2.5 hours ago and there seems to be no change in my skin color. Has anyone used these wipes before, or is there a different product that I can buy that is better??
Thanks!!!

I have never used the wipes but I know that most products take awhile to react once they are put on--I like what Neutrogena put out--Very easy to get it where it needs to be with no running.

Be careful. Honestly, 2 days before a wedding is NOT the time to be trying out new tanning products.

I have to say I agree. I'm in a wedding a week from Saturday, and I already started using the self-tanner a few days ago. The first couple of days you'll find that you miss spots, or apply too heavily in some areas. It usually takes at least several days to even out. At least it does for me :teeth:

I've never tried it before, but some of my friends have had good luck with the Mystic spray-on tan. You may get faster results, since you only have a couple of days. Warning though, my friends have told me it smells terrible the first day!

Have fun at the wedding!

UH-Oh...I already put it on!!! It is still not showing up, so maybe my skin is not taking any of the color OR the wipes do not work. I will keep you posted.

I use self tanner all the time - you should be fine. One dose isnt enough to get you orange, especially from wipes.

And on a handy side note - if you ever do look like an oompa-loompa after using self tanner, Mr Clean Magic Erasers will get rid of it. :thumbsup2

Jergens - that gradual stuff is nice, especially for self tanning 'newbies'.

Once youre more familiar with it - Loreal's is wonderful, as well as Neutrogena's spray stuff.

Keep yourself well moisturized and exfoliated, and youll be okay.

Boy aren't you the helper?

I agree with CathrynRose 100%. I use the Neutragena gradual one - I really like it.

GAWD! Youre such a smart-alec!!!

Youre lucky I am too, or I'd probably be  by now!

You know what though - Ive read self tanner, any brand will either turn you orange, or it wont. That DHA stuff in it - either will mix nice with your skin, or not.

So, Im thinking since we're both GREEK and already have more olivey skin, even pale, that self tanner's look primo on us?

I knew you could take it that's why I dished it....and because we are Greek, ANYTHING will look primo on us. yes? yes.

For years I used Neutragena foam. But it's finicky. If you get even a drop of water on your skin for the next day, it will rub off. This fall I tried Loreal Sublime Bronze and I love it. It takes longer to dry but that's good because it gives you more time to blend it in better. I sometimes have a problem around my ankles and feet even though I've been self tanning for years.

But I do have to agree with the others who said not to do it for the first time 2 days before a wedding. You just don't know how it will turn out. Since you already put it on, there's nothing you can do. Hopefully it turned out well. It will probably take several hours to show up though. The ones I use are tinted so the color shows up right away.

Ok, I just looked at myself--with out my shirt on--in the mirror. I see one spot I missed on my back, but the dress should cover it. I think it has been just about five hours. Do you think it will get darker still? It does look like I have a very slight tan, but I was wanting it quite a bit darker. Do ypu think I should put on one more wipe full tonight?? I am only doing my chest and above.

Thanks for the hint about the magic eraser Cathrynrose. I do not look at all orange yet--thankfully.

Beth--I had planned to do the self tan thing starting last week, but I forgot.

Any experiences with spray on tans done at a salon? DH and I are pale as ghosts and we're going on a cruise at the end of the year. My niece does the salon spray and she looks great, but I wouldn's mind hearing more opinions :) Hopefully we won't end up like Ross (on Friends) :teeth:

Again - lots of moisturizers, exfoliate like crazy... and the "barrier creme" they tell you to use on your hands and feet? USE IT!!! AND USE IT HEAVY! Like greasy over layered heavy.

Otherwise your hands will look like brown-lizards.

So, shower before hand, loofah and exfoliate well. Moisturize well and go get it done. :teeth:

Is this for the palms and soles? I can see that those wouldn't be attractive areas to have "tanned" Thanks for the advice on the loofah & moisturizer!

Dont even use it just on palms and soles - use it on entire hand and foot....ankles too.

YOU WILL STILL COLOR THROUGH IT!!!

Then - if you feel it's not dark enough.... you can use that Jergens gradual stuff to darken it up a bit.

Dont go easy on the Barrier Creme...Im telling you to trust me.

also with the salon sprays - don't wear sock for as long as you don't have to. Wear flips to the salon. A couple years ago, I went for spray tan for a wedding the next day - wore sock the whole day after the spray, took them off at night , DH and I nearly peed our pants - everything was tan but where my socks were. My legs was why I was going to get the tan, was wearing strappy sandels and no hose of course. - I had to run to Carson's, get some cocktail pants and switched up the whole outfit. So learn from me NO SOCKS!!! (that's my motto in life too, cuz I'm a Cub's fan) :rotfl2:

Wait to see if it develops any further before you do anything else! If it doesn't & you really want to be tan.... Do you have a Planet Beach tanning salon near you? The Mystic Tanning Booth they have, is great! You go into a booth & it sprays the solution all over you. One time will probably be enough. It's about $30 a pop, but worth it. Especially for your own wedding. As everyone else has said, exfoliate first & follow thier directions carefully. Hope you have a lovely wedding!!! :goodvibes
