How do you feel about wearing sundresses to the parks? Trying to decide what to pack.

Well my reply is going to be biased, because that's all I'm packing for my trip next week!

Many here will tell you they prefer shorts, capris etc, but I personally find dresses to be more flattering to my body type. I've worn dresses and skirts to the parks numerous times before and its never been an issue. :cool1:

I'm wearing one during my MK day - it's pink and I can't help myself!

But, to avoid any unwanted "drifts" upwards, I am wearing a pair of knee-length (short) leggings in a denim-y stretch fabric under the dress (which hits slightly above the knee) to be able to deal with the heat, the humidity, and my personal sense of conservatism in case of any inclement weather or unfortunate winds (from air or rides!).

So, yes, I'm right there with you, but be careful if you do!

I wouldn't wear a dress or skirt only because I'd be afraid of giving everyone in line a free show while I'm climbing in and out of a ride! :lmao: But wear whatever you will be comfortable in.

Can I ask where you got the short leggings? I've been looking and can't seem to find any. Thanks!

Sure! I found mine at Lord & Taylor's department store - I don't know if you have one in your area, but Macy's would probably have one as well. They're definitely not an actual denim, but have a good denim pattern, and I did see black ones as well - I found mine in the sale section, actually, so hopefully you can find some before they start replacing everything with fall clothes!

You know, I might just have to go check the malls for you to see if they're still there. My shopping ability is a public service, really! =P

I wore one in August. With LOTS of Glide on the thighs ;)

Ditto. I've heard many stories here on the boars about women who experienced often chaffing after wearing a dress to the parks.

The last time I was there I actually bought a sundress from a vendor at Animal Kingdom and it ended up being my favorite thing to wear in the parks. Super comfortable. :)

I have the same issue. Can't imagine getting on and off of a coaster in a dress -- but if you're not planning to go on any rides, it wouldn't matter! Might be a nice option if going to DTD one evening (no rides).

Plus, there's the whole chaffing issue (sweaty thighs). Some people wear bike-shorts under their dresses, but IMO, why wear two layers??? That would be too hot. I much prefer shorts at WDW.

I wore two different sundresses during our trip in June. I thought they were very comfortable. I wore of a pair of light cotton biker type excercise shorts underneath for modesty. It was VERY cool and comfortable. Not like two layers at all since the skirts were loose and the breeze could blow under them. First time I tried something like this at a theme park and I really liked it. And, yes, I did all the rides. Just a little more careful about how I got into and out of the rides.

Oh those are CUTE! We bought two for my girls while we were there, and they loved them. We are taking them back with us in May. :thumbsup2
I am not sure how it would be at the park, but they are cute.

Here is a picture of my girls in their Animal Kingdom dresses at the Poly.

I've packed a sundress for one day.
I am wearing workout shorts (biker shorts) underneath that I purchased at Sports store. I wear them under some of my shorts at gym too.

I hike a lot and I have found my favorite hiking clothes are a sundress with short leggings or biker shorts underneath when it is hot weather like this. My backpack is hot enough as it is so I don't need or want all the extra clothes (and never heavy cotton or jeans), and I look moderately cute in this getup. :rotfl: I have tried this same outfit when I have taken my kiddos to Six Flags and it is perfect. No skin showing getting in and out of carts, but complete comfort and coolness (which I completely need :headache:aka hotflash!). Just don't let it be a overly dressy (or expensive) dress, you'll be mad if it tears or gets chocolate smeared all over it.

I wear sundresses all the time, and I found them very comfortable in Disney...even wore them on all the rides. You do have to be careful though about getting on and off.

I'm not planning on wearing a sundress, but a denim skirt, with short stretchy athletic shorts underneath. I've test-driven it and it seems comfortable, so we'll see how it goes!

I wea dresses and skirts all the time going around the parks as they are more comfy for me than shorts.
Never had a problem, apart from when i wore a white skirt and then went on a water ride. Lets just say it was a good job i put my big underwear on :rotfl:

Fyi, for anyone looking for cute and comfy sundresses - I just bought the one I'm bringing on sale at Express, and it's a stretchy cotton-polyester mix (like most of their clothes) that manages to fit me perfectly (stretching around some serious curves) without looking too tight, and the skirt is just long enough, and flares out just enough to swing a bit and cover my baby-making hips!

I'm wearing it over one of their built-in bra tank tops and a bra (need the support for those serious curves!) with the short leggings beneath. So if any of you need the excuse to shop - I would highly recommend finding their summer dresses before they go away til next season!
