When using the various pools at WDW resorts or typhoon lagoon how plentiful are umbrellas, we have a 5 month, old 4 year old and 14 year old and obviously need to protect the 5 month old more diligently from the sun. Should I bother with a portable cabana or depend on shelter at these places? W e are hoping that we can minimize the exposure on the baby w/o having to cut short visits to these attractions for the older children

if you get there early you should be able to snag some shade. But if I were you, I'd invest in one of those little pop up tent things that coil up to fit in your bag.

I know that they say you shouldn't put sunblock on babies younger than 6 mos, but I had too. Living in S FLA and being outside all the time my kids would get fried, even in the shade. My suggestion to you is to try some BABY sunblock on the baby, on the back of her/his leg a couple of weeks before you go. Just to see if he/she will have a reaction. If no, than I would definetly put some block on the baby, esp the face and arms and legs. The sun is VERY Strong down here... and nothing is worse than a baby with sunburn.

Keep that baby protected - the sun is very strong and very harmful to babies that age

thanks
