I realize that this question has probably been asked a million times, but was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to their experience in traveling to WDW around the end of August. How did you beat the heat????
My husband is very leary about being there when it is so hot, but there really is no other time of the year that we can visit with our children (age 20, 17, and 13). Thanks so much for your help.

Go to the waterparks and/or take a break in the afternoon. With the ages of your kids, i'm sure they'd like going to the parks in the evening when its cooler. And the parks are open late in the summer time, so that's a plus.

I've done it many many times. We usually go in the summer because my mom is a teacher (now retired.) It's hot so buy brita sports bottles and bring them with you and keep filling them up. We also went to wal-mart before we left and bought the spray bottles with fans on them for $5 instead of the $20 in the park. These helped a lot. Lots of sun screen, lots of fluids. We did the park early, either had a sit down lunch or went back to the resort around 1 and came back when it was a little cooler.

It is do-able. Be warned though, its more crowded than they say. We ran in to tourists from Brazil/Argentina most of south America as it is their winter.

#1. Those little water fans filled with ice-water
#2. Stay at a Disney Resort that you can go back to the pool and swim around lunch.
#3.Carry water bottles that you've frozen the night before. (of course you need to be in a room that has a fridge for that)
#4. SUNSCREEN
#5. For some reason Tomorrowland gets really hot at lunch time (must be the black pavement) try to do this area early or really late in the day.
#6 Take lots of breaks in the gift shops that have A/C or plan to ride the A/C rides around midday.

That's my 2 cents!! :teeth:

:hourglass 39 days till our trip!!!!!!

DEFINITELY plan a break mid day. Go swimming or take a nap in the air conditioning. That's why staying onsite is so much more convenient.

WATER WATER WATER

We plan sit down restaurants for lunch. Sitting in the air conditioning for an hour seems to really recharge us.

This is going to be our third summer trip when we go July 27th.

We always bring the spray/fan bottles, drink plenty of water, this year I bought the neck bands...I will be trying those out this summer.

Summer may be hot and crowded but the atmosphere is phenomenal. The parks are usually open late, most of the rides are up and running, and spectro is on every evenings ( I think ).

Did I mention eat alot of Mickey bars?:mickeybar
