Summer Surcharge?

I read a couple of posts that referred to a summer surcharge for dining. Is that similar to the one they imposed for holidays? What is this? We plan to go to WDW in August. THANKS!

Diisney Dining Plan pricing it appears that the high demand surcharge will run from 6/4-8/14 this year. In the past it has ran about $4 extra for adults and $2 for kids. The DDP will be priced $5 higher for adults and $1 higher for kids during this time.

The surcharge is usually for all you can eat locations whether buffet or served family style. In the past the following locations were subject to the surcharge:

* 1900 Park Fare
* Akershus
* Biergarten
* Boma
* Cape May Cafe
* Chef Mickey's
* Cinderella's Royal Table
* Crystal Palace
* Garden Grill
* Hollywood and Vine
* Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner)
* Ohana
* Trails End
* Tusker House

So does that mean that both the DDP and the DXDDP will have higher prices during that timeframe? THANKS!

Does this mean that the prices at these restaurants will have an extra charge for the meals? I am not on the Disney Dining Plan.

Peak buffet/AYCE surcharge doesn't usually extend into August. In 2009 it ran from right before Memorial Day (I think May 24) to July 11. No surcharge dates for 2010 can be found online, but look for it to be at least a week around Easter and the end of May - mid-July.

Basic dining plan peak pricing for summer is in effect from June 4 to August 14. The adult basic dining plan will cost either $46.99 or $47.99 (have seen both, don't know which is correct, plan on the higher price) per night per adult, and $12.99 per night per child. This is an increase of $5-$6 per night for adults and $1 per night for children. There is no peak season price change on the quick service or deluxe dining plans and apparently no seasonal increases in basic DDP price for DVC members staying on points.

I don't know about you but I would them just raise the price and stop all this "surcharge" stuff!!

Sort of like the airlines. Don't tell me the price of my ticket is only $100 then with surchages and bag fees my ticket is $300, just raise it to $300 and make it easier.

I am booked for February 26 to March 3 and we were charged the higher price. We are also booked August 21 to the 30 and were charged the lower price there. Michelle
