Summer stay, 3-4 nights, not sure on parks. What would you pick?

We are going to Orlando next summer (I know...dumb...lol) and will be doing a cruise, then tacking on some days at Universal. For the Universal part we will probably do 2-3 nights at one of their premium resorts but will probably move to DVC for the remainder of our stay, so 3-4 nights. We'll probably do 3 days at USO/IoA and one day at Epic Universe, but there's no point to staying at a premium resort for the Epic day since there's no express anyway.

With that said, I am not sure if we will be theme parked out by the time we move to DVC. My kids want to go to AK as the last time we went, they missed out on Avatar. Other than that, I don't know, maybe we'll hit Epcot or MK, but likely not all the parks. Kids are older and we are already going to Disneyland soon so I feel they may not be super keen on the MK rides.

I'm debating the following types of rooms - there are 5 of us and I don't really want to stay in a studio:
- 1BR VGF or Poly
- 2BR Beach Club
- 2BR AKV (Jambo or Kidani???) - for savanna views
We will likely have a car.

What would you pick?

The first thought that occurred to me was that being at AKV would make it easier to minimize park time. I’m afraid that if I were close enough to see a park or knew it was a five minute walk away, I’d want to be there!

Secondarily, AKV Kidani is my second favorite resort - savanna view, of course. It would have to be Kidani for me because I hate the bathroom arrangement on the 1BR side in Jambo, and I have a great deal of difficulty getting into the tub/shower there. And Kidani 2BR have 3 full bathrooms, which might be handy for a family of five.

I would pick the 2 bedroom because everyone might be ready for more personal space towards the end of the trip. Beach club would be my top pick due to the rooms already being refurbished.

When you say summer, specifically what timeframe? BCV main pool is scheduled to be down through the end of June, so if that is an issued I'd take that off the list unless going after June.

Thanks! August... probably later in August. Our kids don't go back to school till after Labour Day.

I wouldn't be happy at beach club with storm along bay closed for refurb. Also, for Poly or GFV, I would probably be a little miffed if I were that close to MK and Epcot and not be able to head in when I wanted to, if I wanted to, without shelling out $200pp to step in the park.

So, if you plan on having a car, and only doing AK, then I would stay there. The 2bd is huge at Kidani. Enjoy!

If you have a car and have people in your party that have never stayed at AKL, the 2BR sounds very tempting! It’s such a lovely resort, quite invigorating I think which might be nice after the cruise and UO/Epic.

The 1BR with 2 bathrooms at Poly sounds great! I’d compromise some to make that happen, but just be mindful if sleeping arrangements will work with 3ppl in living room.

2BR at BCV - can’t really go wrong there either, but I might not pick that over AKL if we weren’t planning to hit EP/HS.
