Greetings all!

So next year we will be making our first visit as a family during the summer. I'm not thrilled about it - not a big fan of heat and humidity. (My first time ever to WDW was during August - dear Lord!) But it is what it is.

My question is this: Is there a noticeable difference in the weather during those months? Is August much worse than the end of June? Or are they all pretty much unbearable? :-)

We do plan on doing the parks in the mornings, pools during the afternoons, and then back to the parks for evenings. But still - heat is heat! :-)

I know there are a lot of summertime veterans out there - can't wait to hear what you all think.

I can't speak as well as others about the differences between the months, but just wanted to point out that your plan of early parks, resort to relax/eat, and then late parks...is absolutely correct. Definitely want to follow that pattern.

We have done every month with any potential heat and humidity in it (May - September) and I tend to prefer the early summer, May-June, as it tends to be a little more tolerable. Some of the hottest, most humid weather can occur in August & September. Even so, it will be hot and humid no matter which summer month you pick so following the daily schedule you mentioned will help keep you from being miserable.

we did July last year and it honestly wasn't much different from the weather here in NY when we were there.

Next year we are going in late August because we heard the crowds are a little lighter.

We have done both July and August and it is H O T!! We go early in the morning - leave mid day, swim, and come out later in the evening. It's the only way for us in the summer.

Just echoing other Disers - Go early take afternoon breaks return in evening:cool1:

Yes its hot and humid its Florida in the summer - but its hot and humid here on coastal Massachusetts in the summer. USE fastpasses - Drink lots of water - use sunblock and rest as needed and you will be fine and you will have a wonderful time:thumbsup2

ENJOY - its WDW

We have also been there many times, May through September and I would say it may be a little more tolerable in the May, early June time frame. I know that everyone is different, but we didn't see a big enough difference in those time frames to keep us to another time. We think during the May to September time frame, it's just a good idea to take that break at mid-day, like a lot of other posters have suggested. You get refreshed from the heat and a little rested and it keeps us from wearing out too early in the day.

As a Floridian, we find a big difference in early June to the rest of the summer. We go the 2nd week of June right after shcools out. But as you said, it is what it is and with that said a vacation in Disney in August is still fun, hot but fun. If I may suggest, we also go the first week of August before the kids go back to school, and we alway fit in a couple of waterpark visits in between MK, AK, DHS & Epcot.

EMH help alot, the pm ones are good if you don't mind staying up late, once the sun goes down it's a little bit better. If you plan on doing AK I suggest the am EMH, the park is a 1/2 day park in my mind and it can be all done by 1pm if you are able to get there by rope drop! Also, if you can do MK at rope drop, you can be done with all of Fantasy Land by 11am and then head off to the resort and head back out to another park in the evening. Same with Epcot, it's incredibly hot and humid in the afternoons and if you have little ones it's easier to be out of the big heat of the day rather than walking miles on end!

Good luck to you, no matter how hot, you'll have a good time. For us it's easy, it's the only time the kids have off of school!

This will be our second trip in August -our daughter and her husband are coming with us this year-they are teachers and he works over the summer-so mid August is the best time for them. It is hot, but getting to the parks at opening and leaving at lunchtime works for us. We'll go back in the evening if there's something we missed or would like to do again. Often my daughter and her husband will stay in the parks when we head back and they think it isn't too crowded. I will make dinner reservations at the 90 day mark-we found restaurants were more crowded in the summer. I plan on reading by the pool-I appreciate how the pools at the resorts offer shade and sun. I'm sure you'll have a good time!

Below is the daily average low, high and rainfall for June, July and August. Doesn't look like there's much difference at all, except there's slightly less rainfall in August.

June - 71º/91º/7.35
July - 73º/92º/7.15
August - 73º/92º/6.25

When averaged, you are absolutely right, there is little difference, however in early June we still have the possibility of a little freshness at night and early morning with less humidity than in July and August. That possibility gets extinguished mid June going forward, and usually continues to October. It's the humidity that gets you! By the same token, I've left Florida in July w/ 93 degree weather and traveled to NY to find a heat wave at 100 degrees w/ no A/C.

Suffice to say, it's going to be hot and humid no matter which summer months, but for most it's tolerable.

:lmao: I'm sorry! I know these are average stats and certainly not last years stats - because I was in WDW in August when "Faye" came and went and came back again and stayed awhile and then went away. I think it rained the 10 out of the 12 days we were there. BUT, the up side was we took advantage of the rain, went to the parks anyway, took advantage of the thinned crowds, shorter lines, and lower than normal temperatures.

We've vacationed in WDW in June, July, and August and really didn't notice much of a difference. Lots of good advice has been given, and don't forget those nice, dark, cool attractions that you might otherwise by-pass like Hall of Presidents!
