Summer Blast! July&Aug 2024 SDL trip report and Vlogs (updating)

Hello Guys I'm Ann, an local Annual-pass holder of SDL. I always want to share with you guys the wonderfulness of SDL. I love it with my true heart! I love WDW too and I'm planning my second trip this Sep to WDW, but SDL will always have its spot in my heart. I will compile my trips reports and vlogs this summer (will I continue in Holloween season? maybe a good idea) in this post.

Intro​

Most people would say you should avoid visiting SDL in the summer, because of the unpleasant weather and summer holiday peak. However, summer also has special events that would be a shame to miss. I made a trip last Saturday dedicated to experiencing the summer specials, including the shows, food, and merchandises, and had a great time.

Due to the summer holiday, today's park crowd reaches 68,000 people, with a high rating of 8.5 on "Magic Time" Crowd Calendar. I intended to skip all rides anyway so I didn’t do rope drop. The park officially opens at 8:30 AM, and I arrived at the Disney subway station exit at 7:42 AM. On busy days like this day, It took half an hour in line ( the lines will get around the lake) at the entrance, and by the time I entered at 8:13 AM, the lines at popular attractions like Soaring Over the Horizon and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was already over 50 minutes.

Entertainments ​

The quality of Shanghai Disneyland's entertainment and streetmosphere has greatly improved since the grand opening. Now the performers are genuinely enjoying the shows and feeling comfortable around the crowds.

FOOD：​

Breakfast

CookieAnn Bakery Café introduced three new summer special items: Duffy and Friends cream cakes, Mickey and Friends Fruit Tarts, and new york rolls. I tried the Goofy Grape Tart—the grapes looked so refreshing and gives off a good summer vibe. I also bought the CookieAnn Sundae, mainly for the adorable cup which you can bring home with you.





Lunch
I tried the new Belle Tacos at the Tribal Table. The set includes three tacos, with three flavors to choose from: pork, fish, and vegetarian ball. You can order all three the same, but I suggest trying each one.



Dinner
For dinner, I tried the BBQ Beef Brisket with Corn on the Cob and French Fries, which is the new item at The Lone Pine Tavern. The beef brisket was incredibly tender, falling apart as soon as you pick it up.

Merchandise:
I personally think these summer outfits look great, but the fabric textures on the dolls look slightly cheap, not as appealing as the spring collection. However, the slipperss are so cute! I ended up buying Olu’s mint green ones, which instantly give a refreshing summer feel. I also bought a Duffy and friends umbrella. Another item I really wanted to buy was the CookieAnn lunch bag, which was insulated and could be quite useful.








Evening Environment




Summary
The summer season SDL has its drawbacks. The crowds are overwhelming and the weather unpleasant, making it hard to enjoy outdoor activities. But it is the only time you can enjoy the summer season events in the park! Plus there’s the summer breeze in the evening, the light music, and all kinds of ice creams (limited edition). If you're planning on participating in water activities, keep in mind that while most performances only sprinkle a little water, the Summer Blast in front of the castle stage will drench you completely. So, bring a pair of waterproof shoes and a raincoat if you don't want your hair and clothes soaked. Also, the intense summer heat can cause dehydration, so don't forget to bring your own cup if you don’t want to spend too much on drinks.

I'm back! I've been to the park twice since this post, but has been busy trying to making vlogs.

Food:​

Breakfast

I tried the mixed berry flavored new york roll and the cherry cream cake, from CookieAnn Bakary.
I really love how they put the cashew and dried berries on the new york roll

​

Lunch:
I tried the fresh egg noodle with smoked beef brisket and pickle vegetable squid at Pinocchio Village Kitchen. This is chef's recommendation.


I find the beef brisket really impresive. Also it's actually a lot of it, if you dig around the noodles.

Ice Cream
This is summer limited sweet sea salt white peach flavor ice cream at Il Paperino. I'm really glad I picked this, cuz it tastes really good, but it also melts really really fast.
