Summer at HNY - Day 1, Travel

Pre-trippie

We were up, packed and driving by 9:15am. It was a beautiful sunny day and we were all really excited.

The kids did really well and the roads were good until we hit the dreaded M25 roadworks. This added about 1 and a bit hours onto our journey. We finally arrived in Ashford at about 18:30 and checked into the Travelodge.

Our plans to go to Frankie and Benny's didn't work out, there was a 40 minute wait time (were we in Disney already?) so we ended up in the Beefeater and had a nice meal. Kids had burgers, I had pork roast and DH had steak. Total bill including drinks £53.00.

By now it was after 8pm and we had missed our planned Cars 2 movie. So we just decided on an early night.

There was a later show, 8:40 I think, but it was too late for Lewis. We were all knackered to be honest and I don't think we'd have got the best out of it. We went to see it yesterday though and it was fantastic. Lewis is all Cars again

It was probably the worst journey we've ever done, and we've done it a number of times. Just unlucky I suppose. DH now says 'never driving to Ashford again' but he's said that after the last 3 trips
