Are afternoon thunderstorms a certainty in July in the Caribbean? We are on the Wonder on 7/21 and have booked Parasailing on Castaway Cay for 2pm. We are wondering what are our chances of actually getting in the air.Does anyone have any idea of chance at success?

We have been on 2 late July cruises and have had wonderful weather. On the 1st cruise it the sail away party was rained out (the had it in the atrium). That was the only rain on that cruise. On the 2nd cruise we had rain at Castaway Cay. The day wasn't a total wash out but the beach was evacuate for about an hour. It would have been easy to be disappointed by this but we decided that a rainy day at Castaway Cay was better than a sunny day at home.

Have a great time and don't worry about the weather, there isn't a thing you can do about it.

Where the weather is concerned...NOTHING is guaranteed. Just go and plan to enjoy whatever happens. If the parasailing is rained out, you have more money to spend in Shutters!

In the Carribbean, storms tend to be very short and very light rain showers. They pass quickly. It happened twice while we were on St. Maarten, 10 minutes each time. No big deal.

Now the weather in the Bahamas might be different. But I agree with other posters who said just book it and go with the flow.

Have a great time.

we went on two cruises in the summer (2 years apart)...
the first year, our sailaway party was in the atrium instead of outside, due to rain (but mostly due to lightening)...

that was the only time it rained (the second voyage it didn't rain at all)..
the first year was the 3 day to nassau and castaway cay, the second year was the 4 day to nassau, castaway cay and a day at sea...
