Hi all!

Forgive me if I missed it, but I've been searching! Any "official summer 2020" threads pop up, particularly July 2020, that I missed? I can't help but to plan (and start saving) SUPER early (I'm a teacher and it's a problem)- thanks!!

We are looking at going July 2020. School aged kids, would like swimming weather, and less crowds than during holiday seasons. Unsure about the heat and humidity, but we are from Texas,we can handle it. We went June once and although it rained, the parks were enjoyable when they’d clear out after the rain.

I think it's totally doable in the summer- it's almost just as hot in NJ in the summer and you're right, it does clear out a bit when it rains! Been in August three times and July twice- still trying to decide when in July to go this time!

Well, we're going this summer (2019) for the first time in 6 years, but already strongly considering the summer of 2020 as well - either June or July. I'm a teacher, too, and summer is by far the easiest and cheapest time for us to visit, despite the weather!

DH is a Star Wars fan, and summer 2020 is the earliest I'd be willing to try SWGE. A little nervous about how over the top crazy it might be, though, and hoping it doesn't affect discounts. There's usually a nice room discount in the summer!

My husband loves Star Wars too. Being that we just got back from 10 days in November, our next trip is looking like 2020. Loved the Christmas decor and holiday season, but the crowds were too much.

So does that mean you'd choose summer over November because of the crowds? I like hearing perspectives like that. I always wonder if we're missing out by not trying a cooler season, but as a teacher, I can only go during the most crowded times of year. I have considered Thanksgiving week, but it's just so expensive, especially the flights from CA. I can't decide what's worse - extreme heat or extreme crowds and extremely expensive? Crowds in summer seem perfectly fine to us.

I don't mind the summer crowds so much either- but that could because I'm a teacher as well and I've HAD to get used to being there in the summer since times to go are so limited. I have decided against going in November- in NJ we have New Jersey Education Association conferences the second week in November and we have the week off. I read so many stories and have seen vlogs during that time where the crowds were ridiculous because it was the perfect storm of NJ week, F&W and Christmas started. I'd much rather deal with the heat then crowds 100%!

At this point, yes, we are choosing summer over November crowds. We had never seen so many people at Disney. When rides for It’s a small world and the Winnie Pooh ride were an hour wait, we threw in the towel. I get the headliners, but for those rides, it was insane. We did so much more on our trip in 2017 when we went in June. Don’t get me wrong, Disney with Christmas decor is magical, but been there done that, not sure it’s worth another try. By the way, we went half of the week before Thanksgiving and through Thanksgiving week.

Thanks for the response! Totally makes sense. Makes me feel a little better about sticking to summer trips. You always wonder if the grass is greener... Maybe someday we'll try it, but there will have to be some amazing deal on flights for me to have the motivation. We've done many DLR visits in Nov/Dec, and it's easy for us to do a weekend trip there, so I guess we'll stick to our Christmas Disney fix coming from there.

Everyone in my real life would think I’m crazy for planning a trip 1.5 years out, especially when we haven’t even gone on the one that’s in six months, so I figured I’d post here where people are more understanding of the insanity. :)

DH and I are thinking June 11-20, 2020. Our tenth anniversary is Friday, June 12th, and we’re trying to be there on our actual anniversary. Our honeymoon in 2010 was at WDW (and I think it was 6/13-6/20?) so it’s extra special to be back in the same place at the same time to celebrate 10 years later. My last day with students will be Tuesday 6/9, and my last work day is 6/10. Might as well fly out the next day, right? Haha! Hopefully the school calendar stays that way; it’s not finalized yet.

So, that’s what I’m hoping for now, but we’ll see.

I hear you! Right there with you!

That's awesome! I'm thinking we may be there July 5-13. We will be celebrating our 5th anniversary. Since we couldn't get there in November during our actual anniversary, we're celebrating the anniversary of our disneymoon!

That must be nice to be out early in June, although I'm sure you have to get back earlier in August then. I'll be done around June 23 if no snow days! And yes, you should waste no time and get to Disney!

Celebrating the anniversary of your Disneymoon sounds perfect!

We usually go back officially the second full week of August (but of course I’m always back before that).

It doesn’t snow here, so I don’t have to account for that, thankfully! Not having a hard end date must be challenging!

We will also be at WDW in summer, 2020 celebrating my 40th birthday. I’m a teacher, too, and we actually enjoy visiting Disney in the summer. We haven’t nailed down exact dates yet. My birthday is August 10th and I would love to be in Disney on my actual birthday, but I’m not sure when school will be starting that year and I need to be back in plenty of time to get my room ready. Sadly, I’m like 90% sure I won’t actually be in Disney on my birthday. Our next choice would be over the 4th of July. We were there over the 4th a few summers ago and we loved it. I’ll report back when we decide on dates.

Second week in August is a great time to go! It is challenging! But boy do I need those snow days around the middle of the year when kids are crazy! So it's a good balance!

I'm always interested to hear about July 4th week- we were looking into that as well. What were the crowds like and is the weather really so much different than August? I really loved going in August but I have to set up my room early like you too, so I always feel August is awash and pretty much a working month for me! My husband's bday is Aug. 13- we only made it there one year on his actual birthday, because like you start date is always up in the air and the last thing that I want to do in Disney is starting to dread going back when I come home! I like to still have some summer left when I get back!

We love 4th of July week. I can honestly say that crowds and temps were not any different than other times in the summer. We actually did the MK on the 3rd to avoid the 4th crowds, but I think we could’ve managed them because crowds were lower than I expected. Last time, we stayed at our hotel (Poly) on the 4th to enjoy the pool and watch the fireworks from the beach, but if we go next year over the 4th, I’d like to visit Epcot on the actual holiday.

I also like to have some summer left after returning from Disney or any vacation for that matter. I don’t want to wish the summer away because of a Disney trip at the end of summer.

Possible first week of July 2020 trip for me too. We may be travelling with my daughter's dance company so I don't get to pick the week. We went once before on the first week of June so it was hot then too but I'm wondering how bad the crowds are 4th of July week.

Looks like we’ll be there July 11-18, 2020! Our oldest will be going into 8th grade next summer and it’s just getting so hard to take him out of school for a week now with exams, etc.

Looking forward to lots of time spent swimming, delicious food (lots of character buffets with my crazy crew!) and fun family memories!

We’ll be going Aug 2020 too. We’ve only visited during the Fall in the past. Between crowds getting larger, prices and pulling the kids out of school, Fall trips are getting more difficult. Looking forward to something different!
