Summer 2019 visit only for crazy people?

Hey guys!
I know I'm the only one that can make this decision....but just looking for a little help from my Disney loving friends.

My family loves DLR. We are from the Midwest and can only do these types of trips every couple of years. We have been to DLR 3 times but our last 2 Disney trips have been to WDW. While we love both, we are feeling ready for a trip out West again.

What are you all's thoughts on how Summer of 2019 is going to go with SWGE opening up? I have some reservations about this because of the magnitude of this type of opening. We are not strangers to visiting during busy times. We like summer at DL, and at WDW we have been there the week of Thanksgiving.
But I have never been when there when something this big was opening.

I have questioned Disney's plan to put this land in DL park itself, and I guess they felt they had no other good option at the time. Just concerned about the massive crowding this will cause in a park the size of DL.

We are rope drop people and tour smart. We usually break in the afternoon while at DLR and return in the evening. We know how to use FP and would likely use MP as well. We usually visit for 5 days.

While we are excited about the new land and rides, it would not be our only focus during our visit. We just love it all. But what do you guys think???

Will the crowds that show up next Summer be so big that it will put a damper on a trip?

Will waiting until 2020 be better as far as crowds?

Will waiting one year even be long enough to let the dust settle?

Will DL park reach capacity every day next Summer?

When the new land itself is at capacity...those people have to go somewhere else, right?

If SWGE is indeed open by the start of the Summer season, will it matter WHEN during summer we visit?
Would there be a "best" time during the months of June, July, August?

I know this is all speculation at this point, but having you all weigh in will help me make the right decision for us. Thanks all!

Is this an expendable income visit or have you saved for this trip?

Do you feel that SWGE at WDW will have a Florida reaction or from folks flying?

It will be interesting to see how the opening of Galaxy's Edge works...it sounds like a nightmare to me and one that will last for a long time. I told my kids that we wouldn't be going to Disneyland for at least a year after GE opens...maybe longer depending on how the crowd control works. I don't even like Star Wars, but I do want to see the new land eventually. I'm sure it will be awesome but the crowds that will come with it, not so much.

there is conversation on another site that it will be equivalent to Carsland opening......because Hans Solo is not doing so good at the theater.....that the overload of 7 and 8 has put a damper on the fever pitch for anything Star Wars. Do you believe that star war demand had diminished?

Do you understand the offerings at SWGE and its relationship to a variety in loading passengers on attractions?

How do you rate the immersion factor at Carsland, does it keep folks around to eat and re-ride attractions?

My observation as a student of pop culture is that Star Wars is the largest pop culture phenomena in the history of the US, only the Britsh CRown being more popular on a international level. That star wars is popular to five decades of generations, folks 7 to 70. That SWGE is more important to Star war fans then visiting Disneyland. In 2019, STar war fans and Disneyland fans will converge on the summer to experience the attraction.

I have only experience one national phenomena in my 62 years of life and that was the 2017 solar eclipse on the 45th parallel in Oregon. For months we were told by the variety of governments to prepare for the mass invasion of folks to the 45th, that on the day before the event, Oregon will be deadlock and will take days to clear out.. food and gas shortages will happen....did not happen.

I believe that SWGE will be the biggest long term event to happen in the United States in the summer of 2018, a convergence of die hard star war fans who have had no Problem at Disneyland, die hard Disneyland fans who have had no problem doing what they want at Disneyland, folks like yourself who are doing research for 2019 and then the mass of uneducated Disneyland folks who arrive with no idea of what they have just entered. I don't think Disneyland is prepared for the mixture of entitled folks without some type of premium cost to slow the flow of summer visitors.

I'm going to a work conference in July 2019 - otherwise I probably wouldn't be going, but since we're going I plan to enjoy it as much as I can. It's never quiet at Disney.

Though if the Star Wars franchise keeps bombing at the box office maybe it won't be so bad... right? ;)

I don't believe it will be equivalent to the opening of Carsland. The box office numbers for Solo don't reflect the desire for Star Wars fans to see this land fleshed out. Is Disney handling the franchise properly by releasing all these movies close together? Probably not. But generations of fans want to experience this thing and it will likely be bigger than Potter.

I will be getting APs for next year and plan to go all through out the year. But i will avoid the first month or two of opening.

I think that all through out the year people try to avoid crowds here and there and end up causing more crowds at times where it would otherwise not be crowded. I just go and enjoy my time there.

so.....you have answered your question...bigger than Carsland, bigger than Potter, generations of star war fans.....at some point in the viewing they became entitled folks.....I for one, a 22 year-old 1977 viewer have no desire to see any image of Star Wars nor feel entitled to do so with my Disneyland ticket. On the other hand, my son, with a star wars poster on his wall....well he is anxiety ridden about SWGE....and he hates Disneyland.....so just hang out here and look into other web sites about SWGE....there is one web site that is absolutely positive that when they show up at Disneyland in the summer of 2019....at their leisure they will be able to enter SWGE.

I didn’t answer all my own questions. I just wanted some thoughts and opinions from those that visit often and especially those that have experienced the big openings before.
