We leave in about 30 days for our first Disney Cruise. We are really excited about it, and had planned on rebooking for next summer while on board. With the Disney Cruise leaving from California next summer, we've had to change our plans. I've been looking on Expedia for cruise lines leaving from Florida next summer (the only time except for Christmas that both of our girls can travel with us) and are now looking at the 7 day on RCCL Explorer of the Seas or the 7 day on the Carnival Glory. Has anyone done either of these cruises? What did you think of the ships and the cruise? My girls will be 20 and 17 at the time, will there be activities for them?

My brother in law did the RCCL Voyager of the Seas which was out of Miami at the time (had read they will be out of Bayonne NJ this summer, but maybe they will be back in Florida next summer). Anyway, their sons were about the same age as your children at the time and they LOVED it. There were so many activities going on. My 19 year old nephew liked that he could have a beer on the ship, because the drinking age was 18 and over -- he could also go to the casino. THey have the rock climbing wall, etc. so they really loved it. We considered them for next summer when we found out DCL would be in California, but opted instead to go on the Magic in April before it leaves Port Canaveral. Our spring break week in New York is last week in April next year.

What about doing a 4 night Disney Cruise and then go over to WDW for a couple of days afterwards. That is what we are doing in September. We love both places so much and we can only be gone for 1 week, so the shorter cruises let you do both!

Minney and Mickey: We were planning on disney 2005 for the 7 day. Now we are looking at the RCCL Explorer. Looks like a lot of fun. We're thinking about going June 5.

Holly...With your girls being 17 and 20 at the time of sailing, I think they will love RCCL or Carnival much more than DCL. Seems DCL is limited in young adult activities. It may be a blessing in disguise.

Thanks for all your responses. Sounds like most people are happy with the RCCL cruise ships.

ksmom - looks like if we go, we will miss you by about one week. My oldest daughter is in college year round, so the only weeks that we can go are the second and third week in June.

Both girls were looking at the itineraries over the weekend and seemed very excited about the ports of call and the amenities on the ship. I'm almost tempted to go ahead and book it now instead of waiting until our cruise next month. Does anyone know if RCCL does early booking discounts like Disney does?
