I was interested in buying a Xyron stickr maker...anyone have one? Have you found it useful?

Ihvae heard lousy things about 500 but the 510 was good?

Thanks.:)

I don't have the 510, but I did buy the 500. It worked fine for a while, but then the handle went. Grr.

I now have the 250. It's smaller than the 500, but I love it. I run my cut out letters through there, plus other smaller things. I bought it from QVC a few months ago.

LOVE MINE

I have the 510
I did screw up the mechanism once - but the company was AWESOME and sent me out a free replacement right away!

Ok, I admit it, I know NOTHING about Xyrons...Anyone want to tell me how the $15ish one is? It's cheap and I know I'd have to buy refills and everything...but I wouldn't need it for a lot...would it be worth it? Is it made as cheap as it's priced?

I have the little $10 one.
I had bought the bigger one, I think the 510, but then decided if anything was that big I could just use my taperunner to glue it down so I returned it. It just wasn't worth the money just to make stickers.
As for the little one, shaped like an X...I LOVE it! It's perfect for those little letters, jolees and more. It's so inexpensive and it's really worth it! My 2 cents :)

Yeah, Jolee's are what I'm having some trouble with right now. Hermafix doesn't seem to work really well on them...I have a little extra room in my bag now that I've switched to a smaller picture holder, so I'm beginning to think this is a good option to "fill the space" ;) Maybe some embossing tools are needed too....Thank goodness for my tax refund, which should come any day, and thank goodness for graduation presents! I'm thinking my boss may get me a gc to the scrapbook store here, so maybe I can stock up on a few new toys!

I love my little "X". It's the only one I have and I use it mainly for smaller letters I've cut using my template. I also use it with the Making Memories eyelet alphabets. I don't like using the eyelet part, so I usually just cut that off and run it through my X. Works like a charm!!

I usually use the 510 for vellum - I like to print my journalling out on vellum - run it through the zyron - and voila!

I also like to just run the paper though it then punch out those BIG sizzix dies and shodow letters that don't fit through the little X -
I also use the 510 for laminating (the cable menu thing, Gabby's bus pass, etc...) and magnet making! LOTS of picture magnets and importnat phone 3's etc!

Ok, now that I have read all the great things you can do with a zyron, I have to get one. Another thing added to my list:rolleyes:

PattyT-So the one you have is one of the higher priced ones, or is it the X one?

Twigs-I agree!

I have the X and the 510
depends on the size of what needs to stick ;)

the 510 was a little pricier (even with 50% off at Mikes) and I didn't even use it for a while except the magnets... THEN I started doing a LOT of journalling on vellum and I use it a LOT now! Also with the sizzix it is awesome to have!

I have the little X one & the 900. I love them both. I use the x for small things. One thing I use the 900 for is making stain glass looking pages to make mats out of. I take a 8x11.5 white piece of paper and run it throught the Xyron. I take paper that I have cut into diamonds, hextogons, squares, trianges, or what ever shapes, and stick it on that sheet with small spaces in between each shape. I cover all the spaces with embossing powder in what ever color that matches my paper. It sticks to the zyron adhesive. When I heat it my page looks like stain glass and I can cut it into very attrative matts for my photo's.
I also use it a lot for vellum.

I could not scrap one page without my little X. I also like my 250 and 510, but use them much less. I use tons of sizzix letters and couldn't begin to adhere them better than my little X.

OH wow...lots of experts here!:)

I'm afraid I'm a little lost on some of the gadgets and terminology...what's a taperunner? I have this little clear doublesided glue/taperunner dispenser thingy...it's supposed to be archival...I wonder if that's what is meant?

I wonder why the big preference for the Xyron and vellum?

And if anyone is still reading...what did you pay for the Xyron 510...they are pricier than I'd like.

Most glues show through on vellum except the xyron.

Not sure if there are any major difference between a 505 and 510 but I bought my 505 from QVC and it came with 3 cartridges of adhesive for about $45 that includes shipping and tax.

HTH.... Welcome to the board too.

Thank you, that clears a few things up.:)

Lurking on other threads, I think I may have to check out QVC...I have never been to that site before. $45 WITH 3 cartridges!!! That's really unbelievable! :)

Oh and thank you for the welcome!:)
