Suggestions on water bottles

I have been looking arount at Target and Walmart for water bottles for the trip. I'd like to take something that we can partially freeze overnight, and then add bottled water to during the day--don't like the taste of the water there. But I don't want to carry them all day, and I'm afraid to put them in our back pack cause the sweating might mess up pictures we may buy--or the change of socks that are supposed to be dry, not to mention the camera. Any suggestions or brands that work for you?

Some backpacks and fanny packs have an outside pocket for a water bottle - this would eliminate the problem of sweating. Some also have insulated, zipper up wraps that would also help with the sweating and keep the beverage cool. I have seen these at target and wallmart in the sporting and camping sections. I usually carry a few ziplocks, this would help with the pictures and clothing and come in handy for soooooo many other things!

On our first few trips we used the small britta filters, simply fill with the tap water and the filter works wonders to filter out the yech.

To tell you the truth the past few trips we just budget for water, imho its worth the cost. I get each kid a water bottle strap at about 2.50 IIRC and they keep them for the duration of the trip. Then we just grab water as we need it, sometimes we all need our own and sometime we share by pouring into an empty from earlier in the day. Its just so easy to grab a nice cold bottle of water each time you need one.

Look at WalMart in the section with Brita water filters for Brita Fill and Go bottles. They are normally $7 but have been discontinued so WalMart has marked them down to $5; they are 24-oz sports bottles with built-in filters (like a Brita pitcher) that filters out the bad taste of the water as you drink. In fact, water from one of those bottles tastes like a good bottled brand to me. Just find a bottle carrier waist pack at your local sporting goods store to carry it around with you.

To keep it cold, rememebr that you can get free ice from any restaurant, food counter, or drink cart anywhere in WDW; just hand them the bottle and ask politely if they will fill it with ice.

I have issues with water taste all over the place. Our solution was a pur water filter for at home. I have a nalgene bottle that I fill and freeze, then add some water in the morning and it all works fine. If the humidity is high then I wrap my water bottle in a towel. My friend usually puts a rubber band or hair elastic around it to keep the towel on.

Ah, the age old question: Do you want to deal with water taste, or do you want to deal with hauling stuff? I always choose to carry pretty much nothing.

I would suggest that you just buy throw-away bottled waters. You won't have to wash them out each evening, and when the contents are done you can toss the trash.

I prefer the Brita bottle to the throw-aways when I'm at WDW (though I drink Deer Park at home), mainly because the Brita bottle is renewable. When it runs out, all I have to do is fill it from a drinking fountain, and I can get ice anywhere to cool it down, whereas if I brought in bottles of Deer Park or Dasani, I'd have to lug several aroung with me all day, and by lunch time none of them would be cold any more.

I don;t wash the Brita every evening, I just pour out the water and put fresh water in every morning. Since it's just water, and the filter prevents backwash, the water in the bottle is as fresh at the end of the day as it is when I put it into the bottle.

We just use regular bottles of water. To combat the sweating problem, wrap the bottle in a paper towel and secure with a rubber band. I'd also recommend the kind with the screw on top, not the pop-up top. I've had so many leaks with the pop-up tops that weren't really closed.

I found some water bottles last year at Academy, they are oversized water bottles, that fit into a thin insulated carrier by Igloo. It has a shoulder strap for easy carrying. We filled them last year and froze them then added water during the day. It worked great.
