suggestions on a camcorder?

Hello everyone. Not sure if this is a good question to post, but here goes. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations of a digital camcorder?

I want all details. I am leaning towards a Sony DCH40 or something like that.

Any help would be appreciated.

IMHO, we base our camera (digital and video) decisions on price. We figure out how much we can spend, then we go check out which ones we can get for the money. We've done that with our digital camera and video camera, and both are awesome. They are FAR from top of the line, but I've seen video's from one of those (my friend is a "everything has to be top of the line" person), and there is no difference between his and ours.
OH, and in case you were interested, EIGHT MORE DAYS!!!

I would say, if you can afford it, I would definitely go digital- like the sony handicam. Everything that is not DVD based is going to be so outdated in a few years or less and then you really will feel like you have wasted your money. Just my opinion. Trying to decide the same thing and this is what I have been told by the 'experts' that we know in the field.

Remember when DVD's came out? The "experts" said just ditch the VCR's, 'cause in a year or two the tapes will be non-existent. Can anyone name a movie you CAN'T get on VHS nowadays?
I agree that if you can afford it, go for it, but its not necessary.
